My final save was just shy of 13 hours, but with retries on fights, I figure it was 15 hours. Didn't do the optional boss, but I might try today if I'm feeling froggy.

Any enemies in particular that you farmed? I'm still armorless outside of rings. I've "grinded" a bit myself off and on. That one boss in chapter 2 that can get three attacks on you at once wiped my party the first time I got there. But like you mentioned earlier, it's really easy to gain levels in this constantly and the temporary save rooms are frequent. So I didn't lose much progress.

I'm still armorless outside of rings. Monsters will only drop armors in the earliest stages of the game - more or less when you first meet the elderly couple. It's a nice bonus but you don't really need armors.

I looked up the date and time from my HLTB for when I beat Koudelka. I beat the game on November 12th, 2013. Took me 10 hours 48 minutes. According to my notes I did everything except defeat the Gargoyle, and I did not use any strategy guides or walkthroughs. I agree with Sarge that Koudelka is a very easy JRPG. But it's also very good despite the low challenge. Does it seem less sadistic with the obtusely hidden items and whatnot so far? In Covenant when you are near a hidden object on the ground, a question mark icon appears near it. So yeah, that's a lot more obvious than how Shadow Hearts did it. As for hidden areas or miss-able dungeons, so far this game has been very linear. I've been taking my time and searching every nook and cranny. I've found a few powerful items that would have sucked to miss that way, but I've not seen anything to the effect of entirely hidden areas. When Sarge plays Shadow Hearts, I'd advise him to use a spoiler-free walkthrough just to be sure not to miss the secret areas/dungeons. I'm sure he won't need help taking down bosses or anything like that, Sarge has beaten more JRPGs than most of us here combined. Edit: Perhaps I'll start checking a spoiler-free walkthrough for Covenant, and go back to read about areas I just cleared. That way if I missed something I can still go back and do it, before getting cut off from access. I'd rather do it that way personally, because then I won't get the entire area's surprises and layouts ruined for me beforehand. Worse case scenario I'd just end up doing some inadvertent grinding.

Any time you run into an armored enemy, they can drop some. I don't remember the one that dropped a frock, but I got that, too. The rags and frocks boost more on the magic side.
There's an enemy in the clock room that drops rosaries as well.

I just hit disc 3. I've died a few times like Sarge did, the Thief boss took me a second try. If you guys remember this boss... there's a cutscene with someone who shoots a chandelier that almost falls on the party, then you run around upstairs and fight him. He's got two things of debris/boxes in the battle screen for cover which was kind of hilarious, so you have to take those out to get to him. Magic never seemed to hit him either, so I had to rely purely on Edward and some buffs. I grinded a bit here after he killed me once, then had an easier time for the second attempt. After that I noticed the armored knight's are on this balcony and like Sarge mentioned, they dropped armor pieces. I farmed a bit here to get three for each character because they literally like tripled my HP... Koudelka went from 400 to 1700 in this section that I played and farmed a bit, then got those VIT boosting armor pieces. This disc took a bit, I caught myself walking in few circles and then hit the inventory limit because you're walking around with like a dozen key items now. Thankfully a lot of them are used eventually, like the Red Key, then 5 glass stone pieces at the church, etc. I could barely hear what was being said in this cutscene, lol.
ILLUMINATI?

Definitely don't skimp on VIT. You don't have to go nuts, but you definitely want to throw it some points if you feel like your HP isn't high enough. At the end, I was looking at a bit more than 3000 HP for both James and K. They just had to have enough PIE to make sure that they couldn't be two-shotted. The last boss comes very close, but again, should have grinded a bit more. Just the few levels I snagged made a big difference in how much damage I took, with me throwing the levels to PIE. If you want to make Edward almost worthless from an attacking standpoint, you can help him out by giving him one of the Rods that enemies in the last section drop (past the point of no return). And it's good to get those for your spellcasters regardless; the INT/PIE/MND boost is pretty substantial.
The other thing I should have done was have Heal at Level 3. That way, I could heal all three of my folks at once, and that would leave both Edward and K to attack with impunity.

I find it amusing you guys are discussing so much strategy for such an easy JRPG. Xeogred have you ever played/beaten SMT: Nocturne?

I'm mostly talking it for the last boss and the optional one, which I fought but didn't beat. Honestly, I think just a level 3 Heal would have been enough to trivialize it. The rest of the game is indeed really easy, but it's made easy with good drops.

Disc 4! Cake walked through 3. Even one shot a boss or two with Koudelka. My HP for Edward and James is a lot higher than 3k now, it's like 5k and 4k or something. So yeah I've been spreading it out but still have their respective strengths pumped up a lot. I think Edward's STR is around 60 now and Koudelka 70 for INT. I tried to fight the Gargoyle before the Apostle (last 3rd disc boss), but yeah the Gargoyle still destroyed me. Funny putting a voice to Roger Bacon now, I'd say it's pretty fitting. So even this game isn't without its comedy at times... The "Research Notes" gave a lot of backstory to what was going on about reviving Elaine. Yikes. Ex : Nah but I bet it's easier than Tactics Ogre SNES.
This game isn't hard at all but it's still worth talking about some builds and stuff, there are certainly some gimmicky bosses with tricks like the Thief or Apostle!
Some goodies:
