I'm cool with it as well. Has anyone proposed a run-and-gun month? I'd include both side-scrolling and overhead varieties in that mix, so you could do the usual Contra or Metal Slug games as well as games like Jackal or Mercs.

I like that idea. I think Light Gun's are a universal no. That genre is one of the most hardware specific ones and you have to have a CRT for them to even work usually. It would be a different story if it were 1995...

I like the idea of a run-and-gun month!
So me personally...
Run 'n Gun 2
-
My plan is for us to pick the top 12 themes within the next week or two, then we can assign them to 2020 months in the third week of this month. So by January we'll be ready to roll.
If anyone wants to specifically be the "curator" for any given month, fine by me. The reason I limited the ability for regular members to create threads in the Club Retro forum, is so that we don't get too far ahead of ourselves. It's best not to create the new thread until the current month is nearly over (say no more than three days left). That way there's a decent segue where momentum can start to build for the next theme, but not so soon that it takes away lime light from the present theme. That's the idea anyway.

Run-n-gun is a 2 for me as well. Definitely a genre I want to explore a little bit more.

20thcenturygamer anayo Chainsaw Bilqis dunpeal2064 hooplehead Jameson Moulinoski Sarge ShakeWell toei @tsumuri Xeogred Well everybody we aregetting close to the end of the year. Club Retro only has one month left insofar as a preordained theme. Nothing's been set yet for 2020. If you'd like to participate in Club Retro next year, then by all means please give us your suggestions insofar as how to improve the experience. By that I mean: monthly themes you'd like to see, improvements to the model we use, or any suggestions outside those things. Thanks! Fun idea. I might just be too into following my whims than to get into themes, though. Thanks anyway!

Howabout 3D fighters as a theme? I mean polygonal fighting games that is.

I like that idea, too. I don't experience those nearly as much as 2D ones.

Now that is one of my favorite genres. I'm with this 100%. Although I'd rather it be phrased "3D" than "polygonal" because that'll allow the inclusion of Dark Edge, a game y'all should playthrough at least once even if it's only for the novelty. A bit hard to control, but the setting is great too.

Ex: I know you're not looking to go back to Racketboy, but it looks like they're doing Robots vs. Robots this month, which would include all the mechity madness one could hope for.

Although I'd rather it be phrased "3D" than "polygonal" We can certainly do that. looks like they're doing Robots vs. Robots this month Not as catchy as "Mech Madness" but I'm glad they're doing such a theme. I won't personally attend however - my exit from RB was permanent.
