There are a few good tunes, but some of them are just too crazy for my tastes. I used to think that SoR2 was my favorite of the bunch, but I think I like SoR's a bit better. Moon Beach in particular is one of my absolute favorites. Oh yeah, SoR is very underrated. I like the intro theme the most.

I thought I was awesome for beating Shinobi 3 at 14 years old. But someone beating it at 5 years old... wow! I really gotta get around to replaying all the classic Shinobi games someday. I liked Ninja Gaiden OK, but Shinobi was always my favorite. Sonic 2 (Metropolis Zone)(Utterly genious track, my all time favorite Sonic tune. I used to just let Sonic sit while I nodded my head.) Flashback (Holocube sequence)(Flashback has a low key, but smartly atmospheric OST.) The more I thought about it, I think I was actually 6... if that makes a difference haha. Also played a lot of Streets of Rage 2, Kirby's Adventure, Altered Beast, Genesis Ghosts n' Goblins, and Doom back then in Tennessee. Doom in Kindergarten! Sonic 2 is probably my least favorite OST of the classic Sonic games (would never call it bad though!), but that's definitely one of the best tracks! And heck yes to Flashback. The Genesis version has always been my favorite, the gritty sounds and short music sequences like that fit the game the best I thought.

Sonic 2 (Metropolis Zone)(Utterly genious track, my all time favorite Sonic tune. I used to just let Sonic sit while I nodded my head.) Those digitized "record scratch" samples are so good. It has good progression and it's hella catchy, too.

The best part is those scratches sound like they could be being produced from the factory itself in the background haha.

In terms of scratching, I have a soft spot for the opening theme to the original Sega CD Lunar. It's maybe a little corny (that's what I expect people to say, but deep down I don't think it is), but it's so intensely upbeat and '90s (a guitar solo AND DJ scratching, back-to-back?), I have to love it. Also, the most consistenly great series for OSTs has to be Wild ARMs. The Disc 2 Opening in WA2 has the greatest horns of all time at 0:54. This version is exclusive to the US version, cause the Japanese original had terrible vocals instead. The original game's Opening is similarly amazing. I've rarely heard anything as intensely wistful and adventurous. On a completely different vibe, this is a really cool, creepy VGMs I've been listening to, from the obscure From Software Xbox release Otogi. Somehow as offbeat and funky as it is creepy, it sounds like something flesh-eating demons might want to dance to. The OST for this game is generally very strange and creepy.

I've beaten the first Otogi, and the experience itself was quite surreal, and yes, full of demons. The OST matched the visual aesthetic spot on. It was quite a fun, though at times frustrating, always unique experience. If you've never played Otogi, and you like action games like Devil May Cry, give it a try! (I should get around to beating Otogi 2 this year.)

I don't know, that Drakengard music just sounds like the soundtrack to the tense part near the end of every old-fashioned Hollywood blockbuster to me. It's too orchestral to creep me out. I'm just not fond of that type of instrumentation outside of maybe Dragon Quest.
EDIT - As far as playing Otogi, I'd like to, but it's very unlikely I'll be getting a Xbox anytime soon.

- Drakengard music - every old-fashioned Hollywood blockbuster - Too orchestral to creep you out Okay dokieeeeee. I fail to see much difference between that Otogi track you posted and the "Twelfth Chapter ~ Closing" track I posted and despite having seen movies dating back to the 40's I guess I've missed out on all the blockbusters with Drakengard styled music, but hey... music is subjective I guess. lmfao is all I can say. Whenever someone mentions Devil May Cry, I think of Capcom's other sadly forgotten action series Onimusha. Some of my favorites: Onimusha Warlords OST - (22) Waterfall MountainOnimusha 3 OST (S Side) - To the Origin of the Earth
