Reminds me a lot of Doom PSX/64's OST. Did you know this stuff is completely different than the originals?

I did, actually! But I haven't played through those versions.

Doom 64 is all new levels with a complete facelift. I think you'd like it, since it doesn't have city/sprawling stuff like Doom 2. More enclosed. That said, I'd say about 20% of the game is the space station levels that I LOVE, and 80% of the rest is Hellscapes/temples and stuff. Still cool, but I actually liked the atmosphere the most in the tech bases.
Doom PSX: - Different OST and sound effects - Mix of Doom 2 monsters in Doom 1, along with the super shotgun - Doesn't contain all Doom 2 levels, but it's an interesting mix - Unique lighting not in the PC or other versions. Cool red gradients and stuff
Once I got accustomed to the controls, I had a blast with Doom PSX. All the other ports are fascinating on a technical level, but stylistically Doom PSX doing its own thing is pretty cool and unique.

The only track in SoR3 I don't really care for. Pretty fitting for an annoying minigame like moment though.
The rest is just amazing. The opening level/track would be a final boss theme in another game.

I knew the one you meant right away. Maybe not pleasant, but very memorable, and fitting for a more stressful part. That other track definitely has final boss intensity.

Yeah. I was cracking up last night going through the OST since I think you're right, this music would fit very well in some kind of intense mecha game.
I'll attest this isn't the OST I'm going to want to hit up all the time on its own, or for some BGM. Definitely some oddball tracks and SoR1-2 fit in at any point in a day, groovy smooth stuff.
I'm all for that heavy stuff on the Genesis though, thus I can never decide which is my favorite OST on the system between these two...
But then I'm always like, even Sonic & Knuckles ain't no slouch! Honestly pretty different from other Sonic OST's but it goes so hard and I love that.

Shinobi III and Thunder Force IV both go super hard. I can't decide either. Love that Shinobi III art too, just where is the guy? Some kind of metal platform in outer space?

Maybe the beginning part of the final stage? You know, just some ninja scaling a spaceship heading for the moon for some reason...
The world needs more sci-fi games with ninjas again.

Must be it. A real ninja never abandons his mission so if you gotta scale a spaceship you just get to it and that's that.
Maybe you should watch Cyber Ninja, the first movie Keita Amemiya directed (and produced by Namco). It's all ninja edopunk. I was going to say there should have been a game of it, but there is, it's just not very good (Mirai Ninja). There should have been a 3D game instead later on, I can imagine it pretty easily. Just make sure you watch it subbed if you do, ofc.
