All that company had to do was rerelease indie and retro games in a modern, physical format. Simple as. A winning formula.
Instead they decided to: - Release games in "limited quantities" and thus cater almost exclusively to hoarders, flippers, and YouTube collectorcucks. - Needlessly insert themselves into the "culture wars" thus revealing themselves to be jannie apparatchiks. - Literally produce games that don't even fucking work.
Amazing.

You guys beat me to it on this story.
At least other alternatives are popping up now right? Wonder if we'll see future generations have some resurgence DNA imprinted "longing" for physical media making a comeback someday...

The prototype's controller port only has 5 pins. A production SNES has a 7-pin controller port, just like a NES.
The strange thing is that the SNES controller is actually just an extension of the NES controller.
A lot of pinouts show those two pins as "NC" for not connected, but they are in fact two extra data lines. Standard NES and SNES controllers do not use them (just 5 pins) but special NES controllers do (like the Zapper). The SNES didn't have nearly as many weird alternative gamepads like the NES did. I'm not sure if the SNES ever uses those two other data lines, like maybe the Super Scope or those other rare accessories like that exercise bike thing. But it's neat to know (assuming this is real) that at some point Nintendo was considering ommitting those two pins and going with a 5-pin controller port. Perhaps they added them to maintain backward compatibility with the NES (if they ever wanted)?

Seeing all those Saturn games in beautiful condition at late '90s prices is nostalgic. It's a solid selection too, give or take one or two. I like the guy being like "Sonic... R?" Which isn't a very good game, to be fair.
