Those two were my favorite bosses. Neither one of them are difficult, but the presentation of their fights was just amazing. There are a few more difficult parts ahead of you, but given your obvious experience with this franchise, I don't think you'll hit any significant roadblocks.

I haven't touched level 5 yet. I did the first part of Tower of Latria and I'm assuming that's what you're referring to regarding DS3. Honestly I'm having a lot of DS3 deja vu in general. I started by killing the Dragon God which didn't take too long. It's cool thematically and sneaking around was certainly tense. I don't have much to say about it other than it was neat. I went to Tower of Latria next and felt instantly terrified by the recognition I had of my surroundings, and it turned out for good reason because those Cthulhu pricks are pretty annoying. I tried to roll through the arrow machine and almost made it, but then after dying I picked up the key and realized I was being stupid. The lady with too many arms at the end of the level didn't put up much of a fight but those floor traps were sure a pain. As far as "a bunch of enemies in a church" boss fights go though, it's probably the best one. I went to the second area of Shrine of Storms after this and holy crap this was a ride, it gave me the hardest time of any area so far. Those ghost guys and the grim reapers are brutal. I was eventually able to run through fairly quickly and avoid everybody but I had a lot of spectacular fails. The Old Hero was another cool concept that didn't really translate that well into a fight, but what I like about Demon's Souls so far is that even the pushover boss encounters are memorable. I did Storm King right after this and was kind of freaked out at first because my only ranged attack is a short bow I use for emergencies and pulling mobs. That is of course until I saw the sword sticking out of the ground and realized this is where the Storm Ruler came from (hello again DS3, I guess this is what you meant actually). Needless to say things went smoothly after that. Next I'll probably try to wrap up Latria, then I'll do the 5th stone before returning to the castle. DS3
Yep... DS3's cool dungeon area seemed like a nod to Tower of Latria and then the Storm Ruler in DS3 blew my face off!
Dragon God is definitely one of the cooler gimmick boss battles. It's a bit of a tease to look around that area though and wish there was more... Ex will be pleased to know one area in Dark Souls 1 seems to basically be that.
Unless you make more progress today or for your next update, just where are you in Tower of Latria exactly? Did you beat the first boss? But yes the Cthulhu's!!! Some of my top favorite enemies in the whole series, wish we saw them again at some point. That dang ringing chime is so awesome. Everything about this level... perfection!
I lived in 4-2 for a long time grinding for the Demon's platinum trophy. The black red eyed skeletons in black world tendency have this insanely rare material drop you have to get. Want some extra crazy fun? Try going through 4-2 backwards... it's pretty interesting and tough but that's how I grinded this out haha.
It's great to see even a veteran still get pushed around at points and have some awesome reactions/surprises!

Day 5:Today I fought the hardest bosses in Demon's Souls, and by that I mean these guys: They were annoyances in the prison but nothing too serious. Whoever decided to put them on narrow staircases and buff their health is a real dick though. Seriously, the Maneaters killed me 3 times due to my character coming down with an unfortunate case of incurable gravity. These guys killed me at least a combined six times. Other than that I didn't have any problems. Yes I found Yurt and yes I am unfortunately already aware of who and what Yurt is so I just murdered him on the spot and took his stuff. The level was cool and reminded me a lot of a specific area in Bloodborne. I don't know if I'll get time to play tomorrow but if I do I'll throw myself at this much feared final Archstone.

So I guess for 3-1... For the Fool's Idol boss, you must have killed the harmless guy up in the rafters before fighting her? Because if you don't kill this guy, this boss continually respawns until you figure things out. Guess you got lucky if you missed this gimmick haha. Placing those guys on the spiral staircases was brilliant! What I love about this world is how claustrophobic 3-1 is. Nothing is quite this cramped ever again in any of the games. Walls closing in on you? Okay, we'll literally take the walls away and then you're just walking around on towering hallways with no protection rails whatsoever. I love the contrast with this massive shift in the level design. Love the weird heartbeat thumping in the lower portion of 3-2. The Cthulhu guys chiming around, the locked up guy in the prison banging away wanting to get out, the woman singing, the tortured bodies, the big bundle of flesh enemy, the arrows barrage, the Fool's Idol, Maneaters, WTF is the flesh in the middle of the tower below the Maneaters, the red invaders, Old Monk, man... the ultimate level.

Because if you don't kill this guy, this boss continually respawns until you figure things out. Guess you got lucky if you missed this gimmick haha. I did, I didn't even realize what he was supposed to do, I just didn't trust a zombie telling me he wouldn't mess with me while overlooking a boss fight arena. Knowing how gimmicky the bosses are in this game I thought I'd rather be safe than sorry . Of course there was the potential that killing him would have made things WORSE but I placed my bet and killed him. I figured he'd throw magic at me or something since he had that sigil in front of him. Yes I found Yurt and yes I am unfortunately already aware of who and what Yurt is so I just murdered him on the spot and took his stuff. How did you already know about this traitor of traitors? It is kinda funny (and difficulty exponentiating) when he starts murdering folks though. He's one of the things later games rip off wholesale so I've heard him brought up in comparison discussions. I contemplated leaving him alive but I still have PTSD over what happened in other Miyazaki games.

It's a shame Gunstar already knew about Patches too. ... of course, people like myself and Ex who play the later games in order will seriously question the motives of any potential "Patches" characters afterwards. Damn you lucked on the Fool's Idol then haha. I forget how exactly it goes down if you don't take care of that guy, but I recall beating her several times before I even realized something was wrong. It subtly teleports you back to the first area in a way that makes you think you made some progress and stuff. But then you get to her again and there she is... Since I played Demon's so blind without the internet aid at the time, I just figured oh... I have to beat her a few times or maybe discover something in the arena that's her true weakness? haha. Such an awesome experience. One of my favorite boss themes ever too. It's just so fitting and the tiniest bit of unnerving, something isn't right...
