That's right, I would've loved to play StarCraft: Ghost. That reminds of me of Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans, a point-'n-click adventure game that got cancelled in 1998, but a nearly-finished version surfaced on the internet in 2016 and seems to be an OK game at best. Not particularly shocking picks, but I'd also mention Episode 3 and 4 for Half-Life 2. Also Prey 2 is one I would've liked to play. It was going to be an open world game. Didn't seem to share much with the original Prey, but then again, the recent remake/reboot doesn't either. Fire Emblem 64 would've been cool too, but both Kaga leaving and the N64 not doing so well meant this one never saw the light of day. I'm sure there are more I can't remember, I'll add them later. Agreed with you guys on Starcraft Ghost, pretty crazy how long that one went before they pulled the plug. Blizzard realized they can't allow themselves to make newer games without traps that ensnare people to play them forever!
To add salt to the wound on more possible Half-Life 2 things, Arkane were ones that were developing further episodes that got canned. What could have been... (granted we got Dishonored instead which is even better heh).
There is a lot of footage of the old Prey 2 floating around, while I think the art direction and world looks fantastic... the gameplay looked kind of awful to me. Really generic 2010's fetch quest's galore from pointless NPC quest givers running back and forth like you're just checking a grocery shopping list. Maybe that's harsh from the 30 or so minutes of footage I've seen, but yeah it looked like the game would have had tons of artificial fluff like some open world games thesedays. Maybe it could have been great though. Love the reboot, but Bethesda forcing that name on it was pretty stupid.

the Famicom Disk System version of Square's Aliens: Alien 2Interesting. Although I can say with confidence we didn't miss much there. Having not been a big fan of 2nd gen for a long time, I never messed with AtariAge much. I know what the place is, and I know a lot of Atari developers hang out there. Lots of highly knowledgeable folks for sure. I checked out some of the games for sale before, and the prices seemed a little high for homebrew repros (I was after Adventure II). BUT these are custom made to order carts and such, so fair enough. Yeah I figure Aliens isn't great, but as someone who likes to delve deep into weird shit I'm sure I'd get some enjoyment. And there is indeed some AtariAge sticker shock. For me, it stems from the contrast between most used classic Atari games I've picked up ($1-$5) vs. the price of a homebrew. Compare this to the fact that the price of a homebrew NES/SNES/Gen game is pretty even with the price of many classic used titles.

I remember being really excited about Ghost when news first broke about it and then years later being like, "they're still working on that?"

I remember being really excited about Ghost when news first broke about it and then years later being like, "they're still working on that?" It is really surprising how far into production SC:G got before the plug was finally pulled. Obviously the game was going through serious development hell, and obviously had a lot of money poured into said development. Going back and watching those videos now, Ghost was slightly ahead of its time in some of its third person mechanics. Super sucks it didn't release back in 2003 or so.

Don't toy with my emotions like this.

Here's another big on that makes me sad, Flashback Legends for the GBA.
The art just looks incredible for the handheld. I guess beta roms are floating around but I've never had much interest in trying it out for a weird glitchy/unfinished playthrough... could have been awesome I'm sure though, huge fan of the first game.

Blimey, I didn't even know this almost existed. And yeah I'm with you on playing glitchy/unfinished betas. That's why I haven't bothered trying that Sonic Xtreme beta that got leaked online.

Any of you are familiar with the early 90s video board game Atmosfear? Well, I sure wasn't, but apparently a video game adaptation for the SNES was being developed by Beam Software, the same people behind the Shadowrun game (1993/SNES). The game was never released, but a prototype just surfaced on the internet. Here's what the game's like: And here's where you can get it.
