September's theme is all about playing retro superhero games. This isn't limited to just traditional western superheroes either. If there's an old game about a Botswanan superhero have at it.

My first endeavor towards this theme will be (finally) beating Batman on NES.

Man, if someone plays through Superman 64... well, you have my sympathies. Might be better to save for Horrorble Month. Good luck with Batman, Ex ! It has steadily risen up my ranks of favorite NES games. Sunsoft really had the magic back then. I've been thinking about possibly playing a different Superman game... the NES version. Which is really, really weird. Also, someone should consider playing through Sunman for NES, a game that was never released but was originally going to be a Superman game.

As far as Superman games go, I've read that The Death and Return of Superman (SNES/Genesis), and Superman (Genesis/SMS/GG) are supposed to be decent.
I've put together a list of old superhero games I'll mess with in September. I was considering Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009 release can you believe it's already been ten years?), but said game runs 11+ hours to beat. I'm already in the middle of two RPGs, so I'm only open to short superhero games for this month.

Arkham Asylum was really good. But I definitely understand holding off since you're dumping time into some massive games.

I have no doubt Arkham Asylum is quite good. But yeah, September will be a tight game-time month for me. Besides the fact I'm already playing two big games (Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition/Valkyria Chronicles III), I won't be playing any video games for nearly an entire week of September anyway, due to vacationing in Montana.

Arkham Asylum was really good. But I definitely understand holding off since you're dumping time into some massive games. I'm also in the same situation. If I were going to participate in this month's theme, I probably would've finally tackled Arkham Asylum. The second I heard it's at least somewhat a Metroidvania, I knew I had to play it eventually.
But I'll be busy with Dead Space, Harmony of Dissonance, and maybe a PC classic or two that I need to tackle. Still busy hunting those white whales.

So, I discovered this game recently... a good looking SNES Superman developed by Blizzard??? The engine/tech looks similar to Batman Returns SNES as well.
Has anyone here played this? EDIT: Ex mentioned it above too. I'm surprised I've never really heard of this one considering how decent it looks.

Yeah, I've played it. It's okay, but I haven't played much past the first level. Don't ask me why, but I have both the SNES and Genesis versions.

That is certainly news to me. I have this cart but never played it because I expected it to be mediocre...

I plan to tackle NES Batman sometime this week. Been a little busy with real life responsibilities lately.
