It's certainly not optimal, but at least it shows they haven't completely forgotten about the series. Maybe someday it will make that return.
That all reminds me, has anyone here played Fast Racing Neo? Any thoughts on it? I typically hear good things.

anyone here played Fast Racing Neo? I've not played it, but I've played its predecessor, Fast Racing League. FRL felt a lot more like Wipeout than F-Zero. Meaning the hovercars are floaty so the turning's not as tight, the physics are mushier, going fast ends up being a detriment because you can't swing your momentum as well. It's not bad, but all the people who compared Fast Racing League to F-Zero really didn't know what they were talking about.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. I've always seen a lot of praise for Wipeout, but I've never really liked the physics in those games.

Wipeout, but I've never really liked the physics in those games. Agreed. I've tried quite a entries in the series, all the ones on PS1, PSP, and PS2 anyway. The physics are always just too floaty and loose for my taste. That said, I've not tried the Vita or PS3 versions... but they're probably the same thing.
