It's one of the worst games in a great series. For completionists only, I'd say.

Aeon Genesis has just released translations for the entire Great Battles series. It consists of 5 Super Famicom games in different genres, all involving SD versions of mechas from different animes. The first game is an overhead action game, 2 & 3 are beat-'em-ups, and 4 & 5 are side-scrollers. While I'm not terribly excited about the games themselves - I'd played the beat-em-ups, the first is terrible cause your SD robot arms and legs have absolutely no range, and the second is just barely decent - this is great news because AGTP / Ghideon Zhi hadn't released anything in years. If this means we might get Lady Stalker (it's a sequel to Landstalker, you don't stalk ladies or anything) and Metal Max 2 one day, then that's awesome. If it just means more Super Robot Wars translations, well, I'm sure somebody else'll be happy. LINK!

Nice! Good to know he's still in the game! EDIT: Oh, hey, Dynamic Designs released another Super Famicom RPG, La Wares. Gonna give it a go at some point. www.dynamic-designs.us/lawares.shtml

Looks like he got the spark back. I too would love for him to finish Lady Stalker, as well as Metal Max 2 and Star Ocean: Blue Sphere. All in all this is very exciting news, thanks for sharing.

La Wares is fun! Played it in Japanese some time ago. I should just wait for fan translations, they seem to be coming fast and furious at this point.

I'm waiting for The Legend of Xanadu 1/2, those are supposed to be pretty close to done.

I'm waiting for The Legend of Xanadu 1/2, those are supposed to be pretty close to done. That's been a long time coming though, so I'll believe it when I see it. I've seen too many projects disappear right as they were nearing completion (remember Samurai Shodown RPG?). These games look right up my alley. Mid-90s RPGs, classic Ys fighting on the overworld and 2D side-scroller levels? Do you know if they're gonna sub the anime cutscenes? The only other PCE-CD fan translations I can think of (Ys IV & Xak III) didn't.

The second had a post a year ago on RHDN for something similar. I hope that means they are close, but you're right; no telling when or if they will actually finish.

Oh, I remember that casting call. That's a little worrying, actually (a bunch of amateurs voice acting?), but I'll be happy when it comes out regardless!

True, but the team that did the Ys IV dub seems to have done a decent job. Way better than the cringe-worthy voices in Ys III. Maybe it will be okay...
