I have to admit, I did not even know this game existed. I did recently obtain all the Battle Network games released over here, which I probably will never complete. (I played through the original, though.)

I have to admit, I did not even know this game existed. MMBN4.5 wasn't brought to the west, mainly because a device the game utilizes wasn't brought to the west: megaman.fandom.com/wiki/Battle_Chip_Gate

Yeah, I knew it didn't come out over here, but I didn't know why until now. I do remember that Battle Chip thingy, though, or at least a variant; apparently they had a bunch of these, according to your link! Xeogred: I think you'd be surprised, they're solid games. The plot won't do much for you, if I had to guess, but the actual battle formula was solid. I remember enjoying the first game, and played a decent amount of the second. I checked out when they went with the split, Pokemon-style releases, though.

They do look like quality titles. I'm just not sure I'll ever think "It's time to play a strategy RPG Mega Man". But, it is Mega Man. I should check the first one out someday. I never knew anyone into these, but they must have done well with all the sequels they got.

I have only tried to play the first Mega Man Battle Network on GBA, back around 2007. I did enjoy the concept of Lan Hikari's world, and how it integrated the real and cyber worlds together. But MMBN didn't stick for me in its game design. I remember MMBN being very grindy, and navigation of the "dungeons" was less than interesting. Then Capcom made a whole bunch of sequels very quickly, that I know little about, except they all look identical from a bird's eye view.
I may however, check out the Mega Man Star Force series on DS someday. MMSF looks a bit more advanced, and is hopefully better honed than the GBA entry I played was.

I tried Star Force, and my issue with it is that you have a lot less room to maneuver in; just three boxes as opposed to the nine of MMBN.
You are right, they kept churning those games out, which is where I started to question the quality. I feel like the first game, in particular, was an interesting game, but Capcom decided to run a good idea into the ground. (I know folks, though, that swear some of the later games are not just good, but excellent, though, so maybe they didn't just phone it in.)

Apparently Mitsume Ga Tooru has been translated. What's that, you say? It was already translated back in the early 2000s? Well, apparently the text was mostly made up, according to Stardust Crusaders, so they did a proper translation of the game. www.romhacking.net/translations/5136/

Heh. The original translation was back in 1998, yeah it was a joke. But earlier this month, another hacker called "Arrogant" re-translated this game: www.romhacking.net/translations/5103/
StardustCrusader's translation dropped just two weeks after that.
