If I were you I'd wait for the Tock Deck upgrade and skip this Tick one, I'm sure it'll be worth it then.
I wager the Switch 2 will debut with LCD screen, then an OLED model will appear later. I would be surprised if Nintendo didn't follow the same hardware concept as the original Switch did, including a Switch 2 Lite at some point. I say that because it's the safe and lucrative path, but perhaps Nintendo will surprise us yet.

Yeah, that's what I'm banking on, too, with Switch 2. But I mean, who knows? Nintendo gon' Nintendo, so there's no telling what they might try.
There's always that "FOMO" aspect to these releases, but definitely holding out for Deck 2, same with the Switch 2. I'm just happy to see Valve commit resources to an excellent revision of the hardware.

I know that 7840U chipset is pretty darn beefy. Cool stuff for sure. I'm sure I'll eventually get another machine to replace the Steam Deck... but that may just end up being the next one, haha!

So it's like the cellphones just before the smartphones with touchscreens took over. I had one with a sliding mini-keyboard - I liked that thing. Made me want to actually text.

I had one with a sliding mini-keyboard - I liked that thing. Made me want to actually text. Yeah I had one with a slide out keyboard as well. I much preferred texting with real buttons versus touchscreen. I've had touchscreen smartphones for many years now, and I still don't like pushing fake buttons on a slick flat screen.

Bloomberg/Omdia say "Nintendo’s Next Switch Coming This Year With 8-inch LCD" archive.is/MKG4NGotta save the OLED version for later double dips.

Ugh yeah...
Guess it's no biggie for me as someone that uses my Switch with a TV 100% of the time. But still, an OLED version could have some minor tweaks or upgrades to other components. Ah well. Nature of the business with consoles thesedays.

Nature of the business with consoles these days. Just a reminder that the Vita debuted 13 years ago with an OLED screen.
