Chrono Trigger, in my mind, is the greatest RPG of all time. I know people who believe it's overrated (understandable, given the high praise), but I don't really know anybody that thinks it isn't good, unless they hate JRPGs in general.

Feels great to play a JRPG without any fat, straight to the point. That's my favorite thing about 8/16-bit JRPGs. I'm glad to see a younger gamer such as yourself recognizes this aspect of oldschool design and appreciates it. I don't really know anybody that thinks it isn't good

I favor a few other JRPG's over it but yeah, Chrono Trigger is S-Tier.

I'll second Chrono Trigger being top tier. I couldn't get into the sequel.

I think Chrono Cross was the first PSX game I bought (was a little late to the party on that system). I still have a lot of nostalgia for it and with all the variations in the characters and small plot points, it was high replayable.
That said yeah, it should have been a new IP probably. Doesn't really feel like Chrono Trigger at all and even when it tries to directly tie in a little more at times, it was just weird.

I've beaten Chrono Cross also. Honestly I enjoyed Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger pretty much the same. I'd give both games a solid 8/10. I think both are above average JRPGs but not the best I've ever played.

It's taken me some time due to my schedule and having forgotten my DS for some trips, but I am approaching the ending of Chrono Trigger. I got Magus in my team and my ship is able to fly around the map. I'll continue the main quest to gain some levels for the sidequests. Lavos, your reign of terror will be over soon!

The best way to not spoil it is to treat Chrono Cross as fan fiction. Congrats for getting close to the ending of the best JRPG in existence. In my humble opinion, anyway.
