New release: There are a bunch of Pac-Man sequels that came out in quick succession after the original game. Pac-Man, Super Pac-Man, and Pac-Land are already part of the Arcade Archives. Some of the other older Pac-Man games were actually Midway titles, so we probably won't see them included as part of the Archives. Anyway, Pac & Pal received no ports back in the day, but was included on some Namco compilations. Reception for this one was apparently pretty poor, as it deviates (in a bad way?) from classic Pac-Man mechanics. I'll give it a try.

Next up: This one's got such a generic title I honestly wasn't sure if I had ever played it. Turns out I have not. The game's by Taito and relatively obscure. It was ported to the PC Engine in Japan, and doesn't seem to be included on any of the Taito Legends compilations (though GameFAQs tells me it was on Taito Memories II Joukan, which is also exclusive to Japan). I'm not into pro wrestling stuff in any respect, so I'm in no rush to get this.

A 1989 Namco game I had never heard of. Turns out it received no ports back in the day and the only Namco compilation it appeared on was Japan-only. Played a little bit: it's like a "maze" game where you have to collect keys and can crush enemies by pushing down walls. I kind of suck at it.

It's Thursday so........ Very cool. And RPG-ish game with passwords. Ishtar is the sequel to The Tower of Druaga, which is actually quite awful. Ishtar looks so much more promising though. The series hopped to consoles after this, beginning with The Quest of Ki.

Hmm, might give that one a look in MAME.

Hmm, might give that one a look in MAME. I tried to get into it but..... it's a two-player co-op game!! As in, no single player. Interesting, I think Hamster added a status screen and map screen to the game that weren't in the original. The menu graphics certainly aren't 1986.

Yet another Namco game I've never heard of. Looks like it was never ported but was on one of those PSX Namco comps. Seems alright at first glance; I have a hard time differentiating these 10 million arcade shmups.

A fine game but a stark reminder that the Arcade Archives can have a problem with redundancy. A Darius compilation, with this game included, was released on the Switch two years ago.

A Namco action game I had never heard of, with a vintage toy aesthetic. Looks like it was on the earliest Namco Museum PSX collection and the only port was on the Sharp X1, of all things. Refreshing to see something that's not a shmup lol. I thought it was at first glance.

Refreshing to see something so "modern" (1996) for a change. From what I gather this is one of those fighting games with a cast of cutesy anime girls. I've played games like this, but never this one specifically.
