Long story short... I had an aging obsolete gaming PC and didn't buy any Soyny or Micro$oft consoles post 7th gen. I did get a Switch and grabbed the RPGs that were available there (Witcher 3, and so on).
Anyway, got a new gaming PC and am trying to catch up on what I missed in the RPG scene these past 10(!)-ish years, via Steam. Here's what I'm thinking so far.....
Fallout 4 (acquired) Torment: Tides of Numenera Dark Souls III Elden Ring Tales of Berseria Tales of Arise NieR: Automata Blue Reflection
What else is out there??

"New gaming computer" sounds beefy? We talking Cyberpunk levels? If so that might be a good recommendation. I played 10 hours on the PS4 and it was a broken mess, my first refund on there (glad Sony allowed it). I liked what I played though, so I'm excited to hit it up on PC sometime this year I hope. Deus Ex Human Revolution, Prey, Dishonored, etc come to mind if you like the immersive sim FPS stuff. Kind of blurs the genre lines. Not sure about Torment, but I hear a lot of praise around Divinity Original Sin II. I know Obsidian and others have developed some more of these isometric RPG's recently. Nier Replicant is a remaster of the first game which comes before Automata. They're self contained but there's some linked threads here, it'd probably be just as cool going backwards though. Nier Replicant is really mature/depressing stuff with excellent characters, Automata has better gameplay/music (for my tastes, more sci-fi) and is a bit more existential dread story wise. Love both dearly, don't get many mature JRPG's like these. Automata might have 2B ooty but real OG's know about Kaine from the original. Mass Effect Legendary Edition if you never got around to those. Insane bang for your buck, it's the entire trilogy with all DLC's. Good 100+ hours of content. The Star Trek/Star Wars of gaming... I've replayed them a few times, glorious stuff. But not sure how much you like space drama.
FF7R Remake. Arguably a better game all around than the original if I'm being honest. The Midgar arc getting fully fleshed out and the characterization is amazing. Mind blowing, because I thought FF15 was terrible and Square's so hit or miss...
Cosmic Star Heroine was a cool one I beat a few months ago that's a nice love letter to Chrono Trigger and stuff. store.steampowered.com/app/256460/Cosmic_Star_Heroine/Chained Echoes sounds awesome:
Some old Suikoden alumni are making Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, super stoked for this!
For my money, Elden Ring might be the best thing I've played in the last decade, but FF7R and Nier Automata are up there too, along with the Xenoblade's for Nintendo exclusives. For the early 2010's it's Demon's Souls, the Mass Effect games, those immersive sims, etc pretty high tier for me too.
Also if you've liked prior Souls games, I recommend playing them in order to get to Elden Ring.

Did you get Dragon Quest XI? If not, you could get it on Steam too.
Final Fantasy XV is a good game. Just don’t expect too much Final Fantasy in it. Or turn based anything since it’s an action RPG. It’s pretty much a Secret of Mana like game set in a fantasy version of the modern day with a few futuristic things here and there. It’s a very pretty game with a strange and tragic story (or you can read the novelization you read what the true, golden ending would have been). It might help to watch the “brotherhood” animation and maybe Kingsglaive (although I swear that I watched that and I remember nothing of it and it didn’t really change my thoughts on the game). The pocket edition (on Switch) was my introduction to the game and I liked it enough to go buy the Royal edition for PS4. I want the Windows edition since it probably has some mods.
I’ve been having a lot of Ys lately. They’re available on other platforms, including Switch but I’ve been playing through the whole series exclusively on Steam barring a few that I had to emulate (even then, I played Ys V emulated on my Steam Deck). Ys MoC, 8, and 9 are all Steam Deck verified.
I can’t think of anything else.

what I missed in the RPG scene these past 10(!)-ish years Falcom's got a bunch of stuff on GOG/Steam in English these days: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky series The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails Tokyo Xanadu eX+ Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Zwei: The Arges Adventure Zwei: The Ilvard InsurrectionAt some point when I'm in my dork cave, I'll look over the RPGs I've bought for PS4. Many of those are also on PC. I'll let you know any I think you might like.

The first one has some crappy reviews. Looks intriguing though.

The first one has some crappy reviews.
We know better than to trust normie "professional" reviewers though, don't we? Example: The Xbox 360 version of Risen sits at 60/100 on Metacritic. I'd give it an 80/100, I've had lots of fun with this game, and am still having fun with it as of last night. But most reviewers couldn't get passed its occasional frame rate issues and unimpressive graphics, in order to appreciate the appeal of its core game design. So what do they know? 🤷♂️ Not much. I made a note in my Get Done™ list to get you that WRPG list promised earlier. I mean which WRPGs I've bought for PS4, 99% of which surely have PC versions. Sometime this week I'll post it. Maybe there will be some intriguing titles for you.

Oh, I don't trust normans when it comes to any topic, period. I would listen to a steam user with a doge icon over every kotaku, ign, etc employee. The reviews I was reading were Steam user reviews, though, which I think are somewhat useful. In any event, I'll keep an eye on Piranha Bytes as they're generally solid.

Well on Steam I see the first Apex sits at "Mostly Positive" overall. I see an even mix of good and bad user reviews for the game. It's certainly not for everybody, I mean Piranha Bytes games in general aren't.

bonesnapdeezHere are the 8th gen WRPGs (including action-WRPGs*) I own physically on PS4. AFAIK these are all 8th gen, but if not close enough. I'm sure the vast majority of these are also on PC: CrossCode Cyberpunk 2077 Darksiders Genesis Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition Dragon Age: Inquisition Elex Elex II Fallout 4 GreedFall Lords of the Fallen Mass Effect: Andromeda Mortal Shell Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Outward Pathfinder: Kingmaker Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Pillars of Eternity Complete Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Ultimate Edition The Banner Saga Trilogy: Bonus Edition The Outer Worlds The Surge The Surge 2 The Technomancer The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Torment: Tides of Numenera Vampyr Victor Vran Overkill Edition Vikings: Wolves of Midgard Warhammer: Chaosbane Wasteland 2 Wasteland 3I can get you my 8th gen JRPG list if you want, though I suspect less of those will be on GOG/Steam. But who knows. *According to GameFAQs anyway. There's some titles GameFAQs calls "action-adventure" in my PS4 library that I would consider action-WRPG, but 'eh whatever.
