I know the other thread was more in keeping with actual video game soundtracks, so it makes more sense to me to perhaps split this off into a different section. I listen to a lot of remixed video game music. No, seriously, most of my playlist consists of various remixes from OCRemix, the older VGMix, Dwelling of Duels, Famitracker covers of songs, the works. Does anyone else here love remixed music?
I'll start off with one that just popped up in my feed; it's an oldie but a goodie. Sixto Sounds made some of my favorite mixes, and this one is some epicness from Mega Man 3.

I was big on OCRemix's early days as well. Your MM3 one had this recommended on the side which is a nostalgic pick for me haha: OC ReMix #464: Mega Man 3 'Blue Lightning' [Title] by Disco DanProtricity was my favorite back then. OC ReMix #569: Mega Man X 'Brainsick Metal' [Opening Stage/Storm Eagle/Spark Mandrill] by ProtricityThat Spark Mandrill buildup dude... His Super Metroid epic "Relics of Chozo" was incredible. As was Dwelling of Duels' huge Super Metroid medley. I was a sponsor for Metroid Metal back in the day, also one of the older forums I was on until it kind of just completely died and everyone got old I guess. I miss some of those dudes. I loved Black Mages but I don't think that stuff has aged well, it's kind of boring to me nowadays. Relics of Chozo: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyYNeUIVV1U&list=PLA521C8D02ABD2B53smproject.ocremix.org/Dwelling of Duels, virt Super Metroid medley: www.youtube.com/watch?v=unLPAV89SIQ-------------------------------------------------------------------- I honestly don't give remixes much attention nowadays though. I get a bit more out of discovering new actual OST's instead. Keep up with 4 VGM podcasts, etc. But if there's one artist I discovered a few years ago that completely blew my face off, it's S.S.H. Some alias for a person or possibly two in Japan that has cooked up, literally, probably a few hundred tracks of remixes from Thunder Force, to Mega Man, to Y's, to Castlevania, to Final Fantasy, to Tales, etc. The style retains the Japanese-ish melodies of the original tunes and the quality is just out of this world. It's like this person(s) is the literal continued incarnation of Techno-Soft. Do yourself a favor and look up SSH... click on any random video... and be prepared to level up.

Oh, yeah, I used to listen to a LOT of S.S.H. Very good stuff! Especially the Wily theme. Speaking of the Super Metroid medley, did you listen to the re-cover version of it? Holy mackerel, it might be even better. They're both amazing.

I linked that above, is that not the original? I guess it's been awhile. A cover of a cover? haha

Haha, whoops. I saw that you listed virt, so I assumed it was that one. Here's the original, in all its glory.

Double points for a virtual video game musician covering another awesome game song? Also, vocaloid warning, in case you hate that shit. I love both the original song and Miku, though, so this was like finding gold for me.

Honestly I've never even looked into video game OST remixes or covers. I wouldn't have even thought this was a thing. It's an interesting concept though. I definitely missed the boat on this one.

Haven't really listened to vocaloid stuff, but the original song is great. Not too late to jump on that train, Ex! EDIT: Man, they were remixing this stuff a long time ago.

This one is pretty bad ass. Edit: Also the one Sarge just posted is phenomenal. Now that's the way you start a Monday!

I'm listening to the song that came up next after the Daddy Mulk song. After Burner will get you rockin'!
And yes to that S.S.H. song. Great stuff!
