Xeogred: From what I've played of it, I like Spriggan on PC Engine more. Very similar, yet I like the power-up system and weapons better.

I remember trying to emulate that one and the sound seemed way off. I think the sound effects were extremely loud while the music was hard to hear, then I checked some YT vids to see that shouldn't be the case.

I've made a semi-legit run of M.U.S.H.A. By "semi-legit", I mean I cleared every stage except the last one without using save states, then I kicked 'em in to finish it up. Unpopular opinion time: I definitely don't like this as much as Soldier Blade, and I don't even prefer it to Blazing Lazers or the "weaker" Space Megaforce. It's still good, but there's something about the weapon system I don't much care for. And while it sports an interesting setting (this could almost fit into this month's Club Retro theme in some ways), the color palette seems surprisingly muted compared to what I'm used to in Compile shooters. I'll give this one a 7/10. I understand why folks love it, but it just doesn't hit that upper tier for me. EDIT: And because I wanted to try the other Star Soldier game on PC Engine, I played through Super Star Soldier. Holy crudmuffins, Batman, is this game hard. Sheesh. It feels hard to get powered up, hard to stay powered up, and even then, you're not guaranteed success. Everything feels ridiculously fast. I know I'm bad at (some) shooters, but I'm seriously terrible at this one. Save states all around. I'm giving this one a 6/10. I'm hoping I look up an article and it talks about the game's legendary difficulty or something. I agree with your review in that M.U.S.H.A. doesn't bring a lot of new ideas to the table. But in my opinion people like it because it's fast with tons of sprites and memorable special effects. Also the soundtrack is righteous and totally shreds. I find it similar to Gunstar Heroes in that way. Gunstar Heroes is rather plain mechanically speaking, but it looks and sounds like a million bucks.

Yeah, the soundtrack is amazing.
I love Gunstar Heroes, though. One of my favorite run-and-guns of all time.

Mega Man 10 is done for the first time in ten years. That I can remember, anyway! I didn't do this one quite legit - there's a checkpoint save that I used in Legacy Collection 2 - but this game is mostly about abusing the shop anyway. E-Tanks are pretty cheap, after all. It's actually better than I remembered, although not up to MM9's level. It did feel better-balanced than that game, though; MM9 has places that are downright spiteful. I'll give this a 8/10.

MM9 has places that are downright spiteful. Yeah, there's a part in Wily's castle that I couldn't get passed back in the day. Had something to do with jumping over blasts of lava or some such. Definitely a difficult MM. Nice to see you've still go the platforming skills to take down MM10. But there was never any doubt.

Mega Man 10 is waaaaay easier than MM9, though.
I know which spot you're referring to. It's the lava blasts that you have to freeze with Concrete Shot to get through. I died a bunch there. It still gets me when I occasionally revisit it.

I didn't realize MM10 was easier. I do have MM10 loaded on my Wii, along with MM9. I probably still have that save from MM9 where I was stuck at the part you accurately remembered. Spiteful indeed.

You might actually enjoy it more through Legacy Collection 2, since that lets you set checkpoints. Not save states, but you can keep battering away from the midpoint, although I can't remember if that bit was before or after said midpoint.
It definitely makes the bosses easier, though, since you can just restore to the start of the fight and keep trying. That's definitely what I did this time instead of replaying the stages like I did on Wii. I also did a lot of farming for E-Tanks back then.

I always like MM10 a lot myself. It even has difficulties with changes to the levels that are interesting to me, varied enemy placement and platforms, etc, in a "hey this is like a cool remix of the level" kind of way. Playing as Proto Man and Bass was excellent too. MM9 and MM10 had a lot of nice extra content.
