have played Treasures of the Deep. I really like that game, for whatever reason. Good to hear someone else here has played it and like it. I've got my hopes mildly up on that one. It made a strong first impression on me, but that impression dwindled drastically over time. What a waste of great art and glorious music. I plan to finish two more VB games for July's TR. I might even finish one today. It's a shame so many other members are too snooty (or perhaps just technologically ignorant) to emulate the VB stuff. I'll still play a few games for it, not like it's going to be hard to find stuff that fits the theme. I just think that theme's a little TOO open, it hardly has any identity at all insofar as platform or specific retro-era goes. But I guess being as generically wide open as it is, that may attract more participants instead of just spectators. - I mulled over whether to mention this or not, but I have been playing another "Summer Themed" game for a bit now. The thing is, it's both too new (2012) and um, scandalous to really get into on this forum. But yeah, I've been messing around with Virgin Island. It fits the theme well (islands, beaches, oceans, pirates, bikinis, ships), and is actually a fairly well made RPG despite its genre. I don't know if I'm going to finish it or not, because it's a tad grindy. But, for the purposes of posterity, yeah, I'm currently derping around with Virgin Island.

Yeah, that was a mistake I made with my categories, although I think the one that won ended up not being too broad. Yeah, lots of games, but so many play similarly that I think it worked out. Plus, we got to play through Urban Reign.

Plus, we got to play through Urban Reign. Yep, I don't regret that at all!

Well, it will forever be a feather in our metaphorical caps. For whatever that's worth, anyway.

I don't know if I speak for others over there but I certainly don't get very motivated when a host puts in such little effort into their own month. I might also have some bias in particular for this one anyways... and all the choices made me laugh. But I commend you and others giving stuff like this a fair shake for the historical value. I appreciate others digging into old tech and software I'll never touch, haha.
I wish I could be playing some summer themed stuff for this thread too but yeah, never want to force it and I can't plan these moods out at all. Kind of got to thinking I could try Ecco the Dolphin: The Tides of Time again, but I'm already playing like 3-4 games right now which is too much for me!!!

It's funny since I think we're pretty similar about other meticulous ways and patterns, but I guess when it comes to my hobbies I kind of go with the whatever comes to me in the moment. Then I stay committed though, only a few games/shows at a time and I dislike not finishing things!

Yeah I used to beat myself up if I started a game and didn't finish it. I got over that a couple years ago. Life's too short for bad games.

Oh yeah! Won't force myself if it's bad or I'm not feeling it. If I put in an hour or a few sessions worth, I might keep track of them in my notepad file alongside beaten games too. Instead of "Dropped" I think "Played" is a better way to look at them so I'm doing that now. Like I felt content walking away from The Metal Warriors, even though it was totally fine and I liked it (speaking of Gun Hazard has been on my mind again a lot this week, this is a bad world since we never got more). FF Mystic Quest, CoD Blops 3, and Dark Messiah of Might & Magic are the others I quit on this year so far. Probably some others here and there but those I put in a little more effort into before pulling the brakes.
On topic, I played some of DOA Xtreme 2 last year and had a blast with it for an hour or two one day. That's about all I needed though. I only got it for dollars at this point so it was amusing for the novelty of it.
The jet ski stuff seemed like the most legit minigame if I remember right. The button rhythm minigames were actually really hard.

Gun Hazard has been on my mind again a lot this week I'm looking forward to you playing through Front Mission on DS, seeing your opinions after you've beaten a few missions in it. The first area is tropical, so it even fits this thread's theme: And yeah, I've quit quite a few games this year. The one that hurt the most was Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land. I put almost thirty hours into it before throwing in the towel. Enough was enough.
