Then I could just play my original XBOX games at higher resolutions on my PC Higher res yes, and also be able to disable that awful quincunx anti-aliasing.

Then I could just play my original XBOX games at higher resolutions on my PC Higher res yes, and also be able to disable that awful quincunx anti-aliasing. That mess really is pretty awful. It was probably fine on a CRT TV, but it looks bad on any modern display. For my money, the system that looks fantastic on a CRT is the PS2. You can tell they tailored the output modes around interlaced video, and with good cables, it can look really striking.

For my money, the system that looks fantastic on a CRT is the PS2. I agree. My sixth gen setup uses a CRT, with a GameCube, Xbox, and PS2 hooked into it. All three consoles use individual Monster brand gold S-Video cables. The PS2 looks the crispest, has the best blacks, and clearest color. The GameCube is second best, just not quite as crisp as the PS2. The Xbox looks the worst by miles. Its gamma is set way too high (compared to the GC/PS2) and its quincunx just looks like Vaseline smears.

I've always thought Xbox looked pretty decent via component cables on my two HDTV's I've used it with.
PS2 had severe washy/shadow artifacts on my 40" Samsung via official component. For whatever reason, an HDMI adapter/upscaler sharpened everything out and it still looks decent on my 50" too.
I still have an old 21" CRT with S-Video as well though. I should scoop up some more cables for that, I only have one for the N64 (which might work on the SNES too? Can't remember). Thankfully PS2 cables look dirt cheap. If I can someday find a decent small entertainment stand for my CRT maybe I'll use it more. I kind of think about saving physical space and ditching it for a PVM or something though.

I can someday find a decent small entertainment stand for my CRT maybe I'll use it more. The one I use for my CRT and sixth gen consoles: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IF0DHIS/It works perfect, so I recommend something like that. S-video on my CRT looks excellent, but I do recommend chasing down some Monster cables from back in the old days. Insulated wiring and gold connectors and stuff, definitely noticed a difference versus the cheap S-video cables that came with the consoles.

I will note, Monster cables for the XBOX are quite expensive these days. Thankfully, I have a set. Xeogred: I wonder if your TV just doesn't do the deinterlacing quite as nice? Or you could be catching interference from something. Who knows? I have a whole bunch of component cables for PS2, both official and third party. The official ones are better. I get some interference with all of them, though, a sort of barely perceptible noise that washes across the screen. I'm sure it's something in the house interfering with it. Or the fact that I'm running through a component switcher and the cheaper cables are adding to the noise. I actually ran into an issue running through the box where white flashes were causing the picture to drop out (playing Koudelka). Directly hooking to the TV fixed it.

Visually sounds amazing and supports insanely high resolutions. Lacks good controller customization, not being able to configure a right stick or something weird... remnants of the old PC release and its issues. Can run in windowed mode.
These Konami ports definitely seem odd. I wonder if SH4 is fine on a mouse and keyboard.

Honestly, I think it's Konami trying to keep their (mostly dead) properties alive in the eyes of gamers. I know they seem to think they can coast on name recognition for their pachinko junk, but maybe they're figuring out that at some point, you can't expect that to keep you afloat without the cachet continued game releases give.
