Looks like a headache and a half, especially for the platformers. Hard pass from me on this.

Looks like a headache and a half, especially for the platformers. Hard pass from me on this. I see this emulator supports VR play. Yeah no way I'd play something like this in VR. I'll give the non-VR mode a try eventually. Hopefully Bionic Commando will be compatible by then.

If they add the Dragon Warriors and Vice: Project Doom I'll buy it. It's just 10 bucks.

The shot of one of the Lolo games looks cool at a glance, but there is absolutely no way you'd want to play those with the shifted perspective. Not ideal at all for an intricate / movement based / block pushing puzzler.

It definitely looks super cool, but yeah, I'd think it would make platformers a bit of a bear.

So, Dreamcast emulation seems rock solid. PS2 is very good from what you guys have told me lately. Now... how about the Gamecube? I skimmed the old 10 pages prior to this bump but didn't see much. I also don't think we have a general Gamecube thread ( just this one on RPG's specifically). Now that I find myself warming up more to 6th gen emulation, I know the GC has superior ports in some cases. So it might be a good idea for me to get GC stuff setup too to have that option on deck.
Never loved the GC for the most part though nor do I see that changing. That's one console I boxed up like a decade ago and never looked back. But there probably is maybe a few exclusives and some ports I should consider checking out.
EDIT: I just realized, Dolphin is for the GC too! I kept thinking that was only for the Wii.

Yeah, Dolphin does Gamecube, too, and it does it extremely well, because we all know the Wii is two Gamecubes duct-taped together. (And honestly, that's not very far from the truth.)

Alright, I've got Dolphin and PCSX2 running. Followed a video on setting them up but I still didn't tinker with much in the config. Anything you guys would change or note? EDIT: And for PSP.
And do I ever need to worry about memory cards with these? Do they just automatically make a new one per game?

And do I ever need to worry about memory cards with these? Do they just automatically make a new one per game? Take a look at each game's entry in the Dolphin compatibility list. Any important setting is listed there, but you are good in the majority of cases. PCSX2 also has a good wiki and it's a must because of the finicky nature of many PS2 games. I think the program will change the settings for you with the most problematic games. The emulator also selects the interpolation method the devs think works best for each individual game. Also, keep in mind that in PCSX2 hardware mode will always be less accurate than software mode. Unfortunately, modern GPU cannot replicate many crazy thing the PS2's GPU did. If you are having trouble running a game, chances are software mod will fix those issues. The downside is that software mode cannot render at higher resolutions. PCSX2 has input lag that cannot be reduced. Don't go crazy looking for settings to correct that. Fortunately, the developers are confident that the next update will fix that. Memory cards are handled automatically.
