It looks like we all seem to enjoy the "monthly theme" concept. I figured we could use a thread where we can kick ideas around and decide what sticks concerning upcoming months. I believe we've all agreed on "Natsume November" for next month. What about December? I've seen the idea "Data East December" mentioned a few times. Any other ideas for December, or the upcoming months? LJN deserves its own month right? (Of course every month doesn't have to focus on a game developer as its theme.)

I know I'm gonna want a Sega month, like I already said. Which could be a September, for alliteration's sake, but doesn't have to be. Maybe January, being the beginning of the year, could be dedicated to the beginnings of video games? Basically anything pre-NES? I'd be down for that. Doesn't have to be about beating games, since most games didn't necessarily end then; we could post our high scores. I'm fine with DECO* December (plus we can make stupid puns about "DECOrating Christmas trees"... or not).
*DECO being Data East's nickname (Data East COrporation).

Well, apparently Data East and Natsume didn't develop or publish anything in the realm of 1st person games. There are still quite a few FPS'es I'd like to play before the year is out, so I'll focus on that. And I'm probably going to play a few winter/Xmas themed shooters in December. I'm also still planning to go for SRPGs next year, so I should be able to participate more frequently.

And I'm probably going to play a few winter/Xmas themed shooters in December. I do think having an option for December is a good idea. Like: Data East December (alternatively winter/Christmas themed games)I wouldn't want to have alternatives for every month. But it makes sense for months that have a strong seasonal theme inherently.

You know, we talked about Data East being a B-Tier company before, and while that's true overall, I think Atomic Runner Chelnov deserves respect. It's an auto-runner (but not endless runner) that's both a shmup and platformer, and it's actually really good (and though it's hard, you get plenty of chances in the Genesis version). I can't think of another game that really does what it does. Makes me look forward to December.

I had the idea of us joining in on anayo's Genesis journey at the end. @tsumuri also had a crazy singular focus on FPS's but from what I've seen only a few of us here are fans of the genre.

Seriously though, I don't do well with "scheduling" games but I'm curious to see what y'all come up with.

There are enough Data East games on Genesis that you could still join anayo on his quest in December; Atomic Runner, Midnight Resistance, Two Crude Dudes, High Seas Havoc, Vapor Trail, Joe & Mac, Captain America & The Avengers... Also, Jack Nicklaus June is an hilarious idea, though I wonder how many of us would actually make the effort of playing a golf game.
