10/10 bone, lol. I'm the same way though, I've done solid keeping up with most events here so far but I might bounce off and on some of them if the stars don't align (my gaming moods). Good call toei. I definitely like the idea of focusing on lesser known developers like we have so far with Sacnoth, Natsume, etc.

We need a Culture Brain month. Or at least a B-tier NES month. Don't think any of their stuff was polished, but they definitely tried to push a few boundaries. The Magic of Scheherazade is probably my favorite title from them, but I also dig Baseball Simulator 1.000. We could also do a once-a-week thing, like "Tecmo Tuesdays".

Are you guys gonna be good with Jaleco January? (As in games developed and/or published by Jaleco.)

Are you guys gonna be good with Jaleco January? (As in games developed and/or published by Jaleco.) So nobody likes my idea of playing first-gen games to celebrate the new year? If not, I have to take a closer look at Jaleco's library. All that comes to mind are that mediocre beat-'em-up trilogy and the Ninja Jajamaru-kun games, which are nothing special. Oh, wait, there's Ninja Kazan I kind of wanted to play. Maybe Operation Logic Bomb, too. I guess it'd do. I know they had close ties to a company known for harcore shmups, so that might interest some people.

I think there's no reason we can't do multiple themes if warranted. The new year seems like an interesting time to do first-gen games as you suggest.
Jaleco published a few solid games, although they were never really a source of top-tier games. Operation Logic Bomb is one of my faves, though. (Oh, and they actually published Shatterhand, so well done, Jaleco!)

If you mean stuff like Atari 2600 and its contemporaries, then yes I -do- like that idea! I think we all could do with some really oldschool pre-NES gaming. Grandmaster bonesnapdeez could be our professor for that course. We could always do a Jaleco July later. I just personally would like to do a Jaleco month is all. You guys might be surprised at some of the quality stuff that Jaleco developed, or at least published.

You guys are thinking of second gen. The "first gen" of gaming is literally just the Odyssey, Pong consoles, and the very first cluster of arcade games.
But yeah, a pre-NES type of month is good ideas.

Well, at any rate, it'd be easy to try them as historical curiosities. Apparently they draw the line for arcade games at 1977.

Originally I had proposed it as "pre-NES", which is a bit looser and certainly has some fun, simple games. We can just think of it as a loose "first era" of gaming, or just "early era". I can think of a few decent arcade titles from '78-'79 I'd like to play more. I'm all for a Jaleco month eventually.
