I'm actually not even that opposed to a ocean exploration-themed month. I've got those Endless Ocean games.

Okay so here we are... Club Retro 2021January February March = Ex April = anayoMay June = Sarge July August September = paulofthewest October = Xeogred November = toei December The other months can be dedicated to other members if they want to participate. But if we still end up having six months free at the end of the year, maybe we'll double up months for everybody. Or just vote on ideas, whatever you guys wanna do.

I may throw out some ideas for folks in my month, anyway, and settle on something folks seem excited for. Or I might just play dictator. You never know!

anayo Chainsaw Bilqis Chema dreamgazer EasyHard @hutonchickenlegs lurkei misterpix ninjamaster nullPointer paulofthewest @opwuaioc Sarge toei Xeogred Ziggy Everybody I've tagged above has visited HRG within the past month, so I consider you all to be the most active HRG members. I've tagged everyone here to discuss Club Retro 2021. It's time we started nailing down next year's concept in a concrete fashion. Usually with Club Retro to decide a year's themes, members throw out theme ideas, and we have a loose voting process to allocate the most popular themes to months. However, this year we considered doing things differently. We decided to go with a "birthday" concept, wherein a particular HRG member would get to curate a month's theme, based on said month housing that member's birthday. (For example, my birthday is Saint Patrick's Day, so I'd decide March's Club Retro theme.) As far as allocations are concerned, we've thus far agreed upon: Club Retro 2021January = ? February = ChemaMarch = Ex April = anayo May = lurkeiJune = Sarge July = ? August = ? September = paulofthewest October = Xeogred November = toei December = ? All the ? slots are still open. So if you'd like to curate one of the open ? months just post as such here. We're doing the slots on a first claimed basis. (If someone has already claimed your birthday month, you can pick another open month.) Remember the rules are, if you choose to be a curator, you are allowed to pick whatever theme you want for that month's Club Retro. However, you must also play (ideally beat) at least one game for every other curators' months. It's a shared, communal experience! Normally only administrators can create threads in the Club Retro board. I'll get with Sarge about how we're going to handle letting unique members create CR threads on this board next year.

I see that Underwater King's Field month is only 3 months away. Meanwhile, next November is a repeat of last November's theme.

April is already taken, so I could handle May. It works out well enough since my birthday is late April.
Also, there's something I'm confused about: We have a loose voting process to allocate the most popular themes to months. If you choose to be a curator, you are allowed to pick whatever theme you want for that month's Club Retro. Does this mean there would be a group of the 12 most popular themes, and each curator would pick one from those? Or would each curator get to pick any theme they want, as long as it's approved? Or something else entirely? Sorry if this has already been asked.

lurkei you can have May. We don't know much about you yet, so this should be interesting. You pick any video game theme you want for your month (respecting the 10+ year old gaming rule). There's no voting next year, it's a totalitarian decision for your month. The catches are; You have to play (preferably beat) at least one game for your own month's theme. And you have to play (preferably beat) at least one game for everyone else's month. I hope that made sense. If not, ask away.

Yep, dictatorial powers ahoy! (Also, welcome to the forum, lurkei !) (You can also get opinions if you want to be more democratic - I may do that when June rolls around.)
