I'm not sure how I didn't put two and two together on S.C.A.T.'s first stage tune and the similarities to Bayou Billy. Turns out that Kiyohiro Sada worked on both, so that's just one new little piece of the puzzle that fits into my trivia-addled brain a little more neatly.

Cursed Mountain was a major disappointment, but the Tibetan chanting/dark ambient menu theme is pretty amazing and somebody finally uploaded it: The words from the Tibetan Book of the Dead: O nobly-born, let not thy mind be distracted.
O nobly-born, listen. Now thou art experiencing the Radiance of the Clear Light of Pure Reality. Recognize it.
O nobly-born, that which is called death hath now come. Thou art departing from this world, but thou art not the only one; [death] cometh to all. Do not cling, in fondness and weakness, to this life. Be not attached, be not weak.
Recognize this to be the Bardo. Yet be not afraid.
Since thou hast not a material body of flesh and blood, whatever may come — sounds, lights, or rays — are, all three, unable to harm thee.
Thine own intellect, which is now voidness, yet not to be regarded as of the voidness of nothingness, but as being the intellect itself, unobstructed, shining, thrilling, and blissful, is the very consciousness, the All-good Buddha.
From the east of thy brain, the White Kerima, holding a human corpse, as a club, in the right [hand]; in the left, holding a skull-bowl filled with blood, will come to shine upon thee. Fear not.
from the north, the Black Petali, holding a dorje and a blood-filled
skull-bowl;
from the west, the Red Pramoha, holding a maWa-banner;
From the south, the Yellow Tseurima, holding a bow and arrow, ready to shoot;

I have definitely had this tune stuck in my head. I'm not even that wild about it, but it's a earworm for sure.
Arcade version for comparison. Pretty solid sound capabilities here for the Namco board.

As much as I like RT2, the soundtrack kind of sucks. I remembered that track, it's definitely memorable, but it's too goofy for my tastes.

The arcade OST is 10x better. Time to man up and play the real deal toei. Time for you to have nightmares too.

Xeogred I did replay a little bit of it last night. The OST is bad. The second stage sounds like a casino track from Sonic, or some kind of circus music. I also don't like the sound effect for guns, it's really weird. It's still a good game, but I remembered right away why I prefer the Genesis version.
