That's right! HRG celebrates its first birthday. When I created this forum a year ago, I had no idea if HRG stood a chance to be successful. HRG was purely created out of passion for keeping memories, discovery, and joy of yesteryear gaming alive. A year later, I would call HRG moderately successful thus far. Not too shabby all things considered. Garnering attention for a turn-based forum in a world addicted to social media instant gratification is difficult enough; doubly so given the super niche theme. In that regard - the amount of conversations we've all had, the information shared, and the enjoyment derived thereof - all things I'm thankful for. While I continue to wish more of our guests would actually interact, I'm still happy with the legit regulars that have stuck around keeping the discussions flowing. You all are true blue hardcore retro gamers and interesting conversationalists. 2018 was a big year for HRG. Personally speaking I had a lot of fun here during the past twelve months. As for 2019; here's hoping we can at least double our active membership, all while playing and discussing great games that should not be forgotten.

OK, first of all, Ex, what fresh hell is that picture? Second of all, I've lamented before how in real life I'll talk about old games to people while their eyes film over. So I spend a lot of time avoiding the topic, which sucks, because I care a great deal about it. Anyway, it's nice to come here and not have to think, "Oh, I better not mention that, it'll bore him." "Better not bring that up, he won't get that reference." We're all on the same page with this hobby and I daresay I've gotten more out of the hobby since coming here. So, I hope to stick around as long as it lasts.

OK, first of all, Ex, what fresh hell is that picture? It's from a 1992 PC-98 game called Dead of the Brain. I'm happy to read this place has brought you some enjoyment. Insofar as how long HRG lasts, that's entirely up to its membership base and their interactivity thereof.

Indeed, happy birthday to HRG! This has been my absolute favorite place to hang out since RHDN, so that's saying something!

This has been my absolute favorite place to hang out since RHDN, so that's saying something! Speaking personally, the undiluted focus on actual retro gaming conversation on a retro gaming board has been refreshing. The depth of knowledge and anecdotal experiences all of you bring here is wonderful as well.

Yeah, I think that's the biggest thing. It gets easy to get distracted by modern releases on other boards. I know that over on Talking Time, I still gravitate more towards the retro-oriented threads. There's not a great way for me to advertise over there other than bring HRG up when I get the chance. I know of a few members that would make excellent board denizens.

Oh, hey, don't forget to change the forum rules thread back to "retro" as well. I don't know that we have many tough guys here anymore.
