Good grief, Super Bionic Commando or Super Blaster Master would be amazing.

Resident Evil Gaiden is obnoxiously expensive (for a Game Boy Color game) and it bums me the hell out.
I'm gonna buy it at some point, you know, 'cause I'm stupid. But I'll be salty about it.

But I'll be salty about it. I think you'll be even saltier when you play it though. I gotta warn ya, it's uh, not great.

Yeah, it's a pretty crap game. I beat it a few years ago when I was playing through all the RE games, and it was not enjoyable for the most part. I'd say emulate it if you could just to try it out.

Not as obnoxious as Shantae, though! I still kick myself for not picking up that copy at GameStop all those years ago. That's when I started learning that Game Informer sometimes has awful opinions. (Seriously, they gave the game a 3/10. 3/10. Ridiculous.)

Heh, yeah, I've heard as much about Gaiden. We'll see how I feel about it one day, but until then I still have plenty of other RE spinoff games to play.
Agreed on Shantae, those prices make me feel ill.
Great game though. I remember that review in Game Informer and it was indeed ridiculous. Even if one hates the game, there's no universe where it's objectively bad.

I still have plenty of other RE spinoff games to play. I'm looking forward to when you play Gaiden and your reaction to it. Can you (or anyone else) tell me if these are any good?: Resident Evil: Dead Aim Resident Evil Outbreak Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 Resident Evil: Survivor Resident Evil: Survivor 2 - Code: Veronica

I enjoyed it, but it's only worth like $10 at the very most. Only takes ~2 hours to beat probably. I can't remember if it had co-op or something though... This is an odd one, because you walk around in third person but then switch to a first person view for shooting monsters. You have to get pretty good and precise at it, because one of the bosses near the end is a huge pain and time sensitive to take down. I think the Y-Axis couldn't be inverted or the first person controls in general left a lot to be desired. I have to assume it works with a light gun and that's probably the way to play it, assuming you can also still control the third person parts normally. Takes place on a big boat. Pretty boring location. Story and characters are insanely forgettable. Like I said, I thought it was fine. But it's only for the RE purists.

Yeah, the survivor games (including Dead Aim, which is actually Survivor 4) are all light gun games.
I haven't played any of that list yet, so I can't comment on them from experience, but the original Survivor has a reputation for being terrible, so take that as you will.
Funny thing about the game though is that in the US version, the light gun functionality was cut out. So you have no choice but to play it with the standard controller. Apparently that was a response to Columbine.
And if you're curious, Survivor 3 is Dino Stalker, naturally spun off of Dino Crisis.

I think Survivor has a bad reputation BECAUSE they removed light gun support, though. It just wasn't properly playable without.
