I have seen so many Saturn RPGs of varying genre delineations that look delicious. I hope someday the fan translation hacking community puts more effort into translating for that system.

Hmmm. After watching videos of both games, I think I'm actually going to play Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love first. Little King's Story is likely a good game, but it's way more RTS than SRPG.

I do recall Odium's atmosphere being really strong, a survival horror SRPG. I wonder if it'd click better with me now. I own this game on disc as Odium and as Gorky 17 via GOG. If you like STALKER and SRPGs, you should like this one, too. Keep in mind it's also pretty short, shouldn't take longer than 10-15 hours. Cool. I still have a Russian copy of the very first game installed on my PC, just because it was hell to make it run in the first place and I might always feel like playing more of it. Looks pretty cool, I'll see if I can get my hands on it. Apparently there's an unspoken rule that all Japanese games on the PC must have eroge elements in it and this is no exception? Not that I'm complaining, it doesn't seem too wild. Speaking of Microcabin, I'm definitely going to play Mystaria eventually. The same people also made Guardian War for the 3DO, which I believe is the only SRPG on that system. Another SRPG I'm looking forward to is Crystal Warriors for the Game Gear, I believe Bones is a big fan of that one.

Farland Symphony doesn't have any eroge content that I remember. The PC-98 games didn't have any, either.
I'd forgotten about Guardian War. It's a weird game, the battle system is classic SRPG but the structure is completely different. Basically you spend your time walking around these large 3D fields, looking for enemies. When you meet a group, a battle begins (seamlessly). Once an area has been completely cleared of enemies, you move to the next one. There's very little story, and I think there are shops (I'm not sure), but that's about it. It always got boring pretty quickly to me, but people seem to like it for some reason, so maybe there's more to it than it seems. Micro Cabin's other 3DO RPG, Lucienne's Quest, has some basic strategy elements (ie movement and obstacles during battles), but it's a traditional RPG. Surprisingly good, too, even with that bad ol' translation.
Crystal Warriors is cool, and I'd say its sequel Royal Stone is better.

Another SRPG I'm looking forward to is Crystal Warriors for the Game Gear, I believe Bones is a big fan of that one. It does look cool. As do a few other SRPGs on Game Gear. But I'm saving that stuff for Game Gear month, whenever we do that. Don't forget about Faselei!

Just gonna point out it's the 1st, so this theme has officially started. - I hope to beat at least two games for the May SRPG theme. I'll be starting off with this: Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love. I've owned an unplayed PS2 copy since 2010, when NIS America localized it into English for both PS2 and Wii. The original Japanese release however was 2005, making this HRG-compliant. From what I understand, SW:SL,MY is a dating-sim/visual novel/tactical-RPG hybrid. Cowgirl waifus and mechas in New York. It comes from a long time series in Japan, but this entry is the only one available in English, as far as I know. Sega GE2 R&D developed this game along with RED Entertainment. - Looking forward to seeing what other members play. If anyone wants recommendations for a particular platform, I'm sure we can accommodate.

Oh wow, the red-haired girl does have an actual Southern accent to match that cowgirl look. I might have to give this series another chance.
EDIT: 'Your goal, of course, is to protect the Big Apple.' Yeah, I've been told people from Texas love New Yorkers.

I'm wondering how you'll handle the VN aspect, Ex. Doesn't seem like something you'd be into, or maybe I'm wrong? I'm not completely against them, myself, but it's still the main thing that's kept me away from that game.
As for me, I'm off work next week. I'm thinking of trying either Tear Ring Saga or one of the GBA FEs during that week. I kind of want to play another shmup first, though, but I'd really like to complete one SRPG this month.

I'm wondering how you'll handle the VN aspect, Ex. I've "beaten" a fair amount of VNs before. I enjoy a good VN once in a while. A second opinion on that one would be appreciated. Well you could combine the flavors... edit: I've been told people from Texas love New Yorkers. Ha. Well, I was born in Texas, I've spent time in New York city, I did not love it.

I'm curious to see what Toei thinks of TRS myself. I wouldn't recommend the game to anyone, especially not to someone who isn't into the Fire Emblem games to begin with, but I wouldn't mind being proven wrong there.
Knights in the Nightmare is a pretty cool game. No clue how it's supposed to be played.
