This thread is meant to be a catch all for discussing modern games that utilize a distinctly retro style.
Yep, that's what it is alright.

I like retro-styled games. Mostly because they are the only kind of modern games that my PC can run (maybe).
Amid Evil looks like HeXen 2 on stereoids. Should also play Dusk - and Ion Maiden when it comes out.

That is one I'm excited for. I love that it uses the Build engine. I've already got the GOG beta of Ion Maiden, but yeah waiting for that full release. Here's a vid for peoples:

My poor machine doesn't even run some indies at this point. Anyway, I'm going to use this opportunity to recommend a blisteringly difficult Contra clone, Super Cyborg. Pretty sure it's only on Steam, and it's only $1.49 right now.

Waiting a bit on Ion Maiden myself. Let's hope they don't get crushed by IRON Maiden apparently suing them for the name last I heard. I talked up Dusk with Tsumuri late last year, it's seriously damn good stuff. I wrote this up:
WRATH AEON OF RUIN will be another one for us retro FPS fans to keep an eye on, this one is literally powered by the Quake 1 engine. There's trailers, but I think gameplay tells an even better story.

I was going to say, before I read your blurb, that looks an awful lot like Quake.

IRON Maiden apparently suing them for the name last I heard. That's just lame. I don't think it'd hold in court either. It'd be possibly different if it was a heavy metal band called Ion Maiden, maybe. Hard to claim unfair competition against a video game though, I'd think. Wrath Aeon of Ruin looks really good!
