Well, that's different! I'm also noticing you've got quite the intriguing party there - definitely a lot of non-standard characters for an RPG.

Playing Shantae and the Seven Sirens. Very good game, with one massive gripe on my part: it's way, way, way too easy. Healing items are too easy to get and spam, health drops like crazy, and so on. I think it has to be because the game first released on Apple Arcade, so they were generous given the touch screen stuff... although it's clearly meant to be played with a controller. Or it could just be that's the way they are these days - I don't remember having a whole lot of trouble with Half-Genie Hero either.
Regardless, having a ton of fun. The series has been consistently fun for me, so a new one is always a treat.

Mo' Shantae progress. I like a ton of stuff here, but I am annoyed by two different things.
- The map system is kinda bad. You can't annotate it, and it doesn't automatically log points of interest. The best you can do is take a screenshot, which is less than ideal. - There are hidden items in pretty much every screen, but you generally have to reveal them using the Seer Dance, or shake them loose using the Quake Dance. Either way, it amounts to the sort of NES-style bush-burning, ground-bombing mechanics that really don't need to be here. Okay, it's not that egregious, but it's egregious enough if you're looking for 100%. (I'm looking for 100%.)

I plan to play more of the Shantae games, but I get the feeling the series will tax out at a 7/10 for me.

I get the feeling the series will tax out at a 7/10 for me. I've sampled a few entries, and that's my consensus as well. It's decent genre comfort food.

Have any of you guys dabbled into the Azure Striker Gunvolt series? Getting a serious Mega Man itch lately... I do have Blaster Mario Zero 2 on deck that might fit the bill in a way.

Dabbled is the right word. It's got some of the Mega Man style, but it plays a bit differently with that lock-on mechanic.

That's actually kind of what I was afraid of. Might need to be in the mood for that... Sometimes I just want to platform around and shoot lasers in a straight line at enemies ahead of me.

Sometimes I just want to platform around and shoot lasers in a straight line at enemies ahead of me. Well, if that's all you want... ...at least it's unexplored territory for you fam.
