I have heard very good things about the modern XCOM games. And the bit I've played of the first seems to confirm it's pretty solid. I think the Shadowrun Trilogy also uses this sort of combat system as well, and I'm really interested in playing those at some point because of the RPG elements.

Very good comrade.
Highly recommend the DLC's if that doesn't include them. The Two Colonels was brief but filled in some nice context around the main game. And Sam's Story might be the best campaign in all of the Metro's to me, was blown away by that one. It felt a bit more like STALKER again and had the perfect balance of story and lonely adventuring.

I don't think it includes the DLCs, but if I enjoy the main game enough, I'll snag 'em.

Okay that one looks good. I got at $14, but I'm rolling the ebay dice with a low rating seller.

Okay that one looks good. I got at $14, but I'm rolling the ebay dice with a low rating seller. Definitely gave me S.T.A.L.K.E.R. vibes, a survival horror/open-ish world/FPS hybrid that I loved. If this channels the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. it's money well spent.

The first two Metro's are extremely linear, but still pretty cool. Those Ukraine devs really give it a different flavor than the norm. That said I didn't like the original Metro at launch, but after I enjoyed the second game, I went back to the Redux version of the original and liked it then.
Exodus is far more open than the first two. It still has a lot of story/scripted moments throughout, so it's not as hands off as STALKER. But I do think Exodus struck a nice balance and was an excellent world to explore. Definitely my favorite of the three main games so far.
Pretty wild we're getting a real STALKER 2 now soon. My expectations are going to be very high though, heh... hopefully it delivers!

I'm in a post-apocalyptic mood and I haven't had a good Resident Evil type game in awhile. This looks to fulfill both.
Okay S.T.A.L.K.E.R. looks really good as well. $15 for that one.
Careful Ex, I need time to play games not just buy ; )

The first two Metro's are extremely linear, but still pretty cool. I've got those on 360. Pretty sure your praise a while back spurred the purchases. I'm cautiously optimistic. The first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was extraordinarily good. I've not played either of its expansions. Okay S.T.A.L.K.E.R. looks really good as well. $15 for that one. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is easily one of the best post-apocalyptic styled games I've ever played. I put it right up there with New Vegas and the original Fallout. Although S.T.A.L.K.E.R. can be legitimately unnerving (if played alone at night anyway). Eh just adopt my strategy; Hoard and hope for the best.
