New Vegas 2 is finally here.

As for the last hope for a new Star Wars game, I just can't seem to muster up much interest on Jedi: Fallen Order. And I loved Titanfall 2, the Souls influences, and the devs have constantly name dropped Metroid Prime as inspiration as well. I guess the Disney movies have just really soured my energy for anything new Star Wars right now. I'd like to support this and try to tell EA that single player games still matter, but I think I'll be passing on this one.

Got super pumped for The Outer Worlds when I realized it's also coming to Switch. And the only complaints I seem to hear are that it's a little too similar to New Vegas, which is alright by me.

New Vegas 2 is definitely what a lot of us have been craving. Yeah it sounds incredible from everything I've heard. Obsidian just casually making a better Bethesda styled game yet again, heh. It's gotten a lot of good Mass Effect comparisons too, in regards to its structure. Another win for non-linear games that aren't aimless open world junk boxes! I'm impressed to hear so much praise around the writing too, I used to attribute that quality to Chris Avellone's involvement, but he left Obsidian awhile back. They're clearly just a super talented team, finally getting their due with this release and I think MS will treat them well (lately I keep thinking I wish MS owned Mass Effect. Bet it would have been handled better than how EA's treated it this gen).
For now, I'm holding off because I'm still against the EGS and I'm not sure I'm up for another big RPG at the moment.

A sequel to New Vegas sounds good. I'm currently sitting at about 90 hours in my NV campaign. Just gotta finish the final two DLCs, and wrap up the ending. Pretty much 100%-ing the game at this point.

Pretty much 100%-ing the game at this point. I'm hearing a thorough 100% run of Outer Worlds is probably in the 30-40 hour ballpark, which is still pretty big. Obsidian were working on a smaller scale and production intentionally, with a slimmer team. Yet I think this has only benefited the appeal to this game and hopefully trends going forward. I know you're not into replaying stuff, but one of the developers was on his 16th playthrough and still discovering tons of new stuff. The dynamics between the characters, factions, writing and storylines sounds amazing in this. Maybe the person is exaggerating some, but being Obsidian... I can believe so much flexibility is possible. It's always fun to play these games and discuss them among friends, to see how differently people approach situations.
You can play a low INT character that gets new "Dumb" dialogue choices.
And with them escaping the shackles of Fallout, there's color and infinite possibilities with Outer Worlds being an intergalactic joint with multiple planets.
I've heard nothing but positives around the games' stability too. Who would have thought, give Obsidian enough time for once and they can work out the kinks? KOTOR2, New Vegas, etc most of their previous games often got slammed for being so bug filled, but they had to turn games around within like a single year. It's insane what they were able to accomplish in a way.
I'm so happy this has turned into a big success story for them. It's getting a lot of traction and love.

I was going to say, the scope has been reduced, and I think one of the devs compared it to KOTOR 2 in terms of size. I'm totally okay with that. I'd much rather have a 30-40 hour game that I can do pretty much everything in and have a blast, rather than a 100+ hour experience that feels like I'm going through the motions.
Speaking of which, I'd argue that's where BioWare was at their best. The Mass Effect games all clock in around 50 hours if you do everything, so did KOTOR/KOTOR 2, I put in a similar amount of time into Dragon Age: Origins, and so on.

Those were my runs this year. Not 100%, but very thorough and that's with all of the DLC for 2-3.

The Bioware format is definitely my jam and kind of similar to what you get in Deus Ex and whatnot.
