Man, their updated releases are just getting ridiculous. I miss the old Atlus that actually published a lot of new, interesting (if flawed at times) games.

The two previous Endless Ocean games were great*, so I'm very stoked for a third. Looks like it releases in May. I'll play it this summer for sure. * their updated releases are just getting ridiculous Atlus milks things a little too egregiously. But I'll likely buy Vengeance and sell my still sealed SMT5 original copy. If I'd already played through SMT5 I wouldn't buy Vengeance, though. There were a bunch of other games mentioned coming to Switch this year I'm interested in. The original Switch is going out with a bang for sure.

Guess they're going to have to if the new Switch is pushed to next year. But it's a train that apparently won't slow down. The cool thing about diminishing returns in tech is that the next system will have a less-perceivable gap between it and the big boy systems, even on a small power/thermal budget. The other cool part is that we're not far from a passively-cooled PS2/GC emulation handheld, if the Retroid Pocket 4+ is anything to go by. (And I'm sure there are mobile phones that have more than enough heft for it, too, but I don't want to pay $500-1000 for them. )

I think Nintendo's massive rise of success during the Switch era validates 6 things:
1. Quality leadership is vital. 2. Handhelds are still relevant. 3. Japanese games > Western games 4. If you give third party developers a popular platform that is less powerful, thus less expensive to develop games for, you will attract a greater number of third party developers. 5. Software is King. 6. You can build a new platform by focusing initially on ports and remasters.

I see you added #6, since I last read that post at work earlier today...
I think #4-5 are potent right now in combination of the indie boom over the last decade and the insane sustainability issues of AAA costs. It's amusing how excited I am for the Switch 2 to be PS4 levels of graphics. While I do favor performance thesedays and it's important to me, it's going to feel like Nintendo's caught up. And then what? We've all pretty much agreed graphical fidelity and the interest in that kind of thing diminishes year over year, generation over generation.
Xbox's power talk always sucks. So the next hardware they drop will be the BIGGEST LEAP IN CONSOLE HISTORY? Pretty sure they said that about the Series X. Probably the Xbox One too.
When Turtle Nintendo finally catches up to the plateau we've hit with graphics in gaming, software will be even more important in a competing sense.

When Turtle Nintendo finally catches up to the plateau we've hit with graphics in gaming, software will be even more important in a competing sense. I wish for two things to occur when graphics finally reach the point of singularity. By that I mean, graphics are as good as they're going to get, given budgets still feasible, and technology has plateaued to the point of ubiquitous capability: 1. Alternative art styles are explored to potential beyond "realism". As in, the game's real time 3D graphics look like a living oil painting, or cel shading that is so advanced it looks like an actual cartoon. 2. Because all games have "good graphics", the ultimate determination of worth boils down to game design quality.

They have some of the best DLC in the business, so this will be a slam dunk and probably the size of a single Souls game. An EXPANSION PACK! $40 feels like a steal. Will be glorious returning to that world on my OLED.
I just wonder how they'll balance things with NG+ characters. Playing the Bloodborne DLC with my NG+++ character was almost a mistake, the bosses and things basically killed me in two hits. I even gave up on a boss, but after beating Dark Souls 3 I returned to that boss in Bloodborne and beat it after a year break. That revenge felt good.
