New trailer for Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which releases November 7th for Switch. Looks competent and decent, generally more of the same as expected. I couldn't finish that new trailer though, because of how patronizing and condescending it is.

Yeah, it's a classic case of how Zelda related projects always entice me a lot more than Mario in general. Echoes of Wisdom is one I want to get. But I'm not interested in this at all. Most of the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games have looked pretty middling to me, I'm also just a SMRPG fanboy with a 20+ year grudge on how that game was a one off without a real sequel (but I wager 90's Square Soft was the secret sauce anyways). The Mario & Luigi games were never that to me.
I looked up those Pathologic games and the second one looks pretty cool.

Never got into that "Mario & Luigi" series. Between the regular ass platformers, Paper Mario, Mario Party, and Mario Kart I'm all Mario'd out.

I beat a GBA Mario & Luigi, it was cool at first but I remember getting really sick of it before too long and not wanting to play any more after that. I love SMRPG though, I do think Squaresoft in their prime was a big part of that.

I think the series ranges from good to spectacular, honestly, but there tends to be a off-on quality between releases. Really enjoyed Superstar Saga, Partners in Time was fine, Bowser's Inside Story is easily one of my favorite DS RPGs (and RPGs in general), Dream Team was good but lacked that special spark, and Paper Jam was a semi-return to form. Also, it's been eight years since we've had a new entry in the series, so I'm really hoping this one turns out well.
If I were to recommend any game in the series, it's Bowser's Inside Story. It's one where I felt like all the humor hit along with the gameplay.
(If I were to put numbers to the series, it would be 9.0, 7.5, 9.5, 8.0, 8.5. Yeah, I like 'em.)

It is amusingly egregious there's two parallel Mario RPG series; Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario. There've been some games alright: Mario & Luigi Series- *Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga* - Year: 2003 - Platform: Game Boy Advance - *Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time* - Year: 2005 - Platform: Nintendo DS - *Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story* - Year: 2009 - Platform: Nintendo DS - *Mario & Luigi: Dream Team* - Year: 2013 - Platform: Nintendo 3DS - *Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam* - Year: 2015 - Platform: Nintendo 3DS - *Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions* (Remake) - Year: 2017 - Platform: Nintendo 3DS - *Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey* (Remake) - Year: 2018 - Platform: Nintendo 3DS - *Mario & Luigi: Brothership* - Year: Scheduled for release on November 7, 2024 - Platform: Nintendo Switch Paper Mario Series- *Paper Mario* - Year: 2000 - Platform: Nintendo 64 - *Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door* - Year: 2004 - Platform: GameCube - *Super Paper Mario* - Year: 2007 - Platform: Wii - *Paper Mario: Sticker Star* - Year: 2012 - Platform: Nintendo 3DS - *Paper Mario: Color Splash* - Year: 2016 - Platform: Wii U - *Paper Mario: The Origami King* - Year: 2020 - Platform: Nintendo Switch - *Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door* (Remake) - Year: 2024 - Platform: Nintendo Switch Out of all that, the only game I've beaten is the original Paper Mario on N64, and it was quite good! I beat Super Mario RPG back in '98 on a real SNES. Agreed with all it's an awesome JRPG (if a bit easy) with enough personal nostalgia I bought the Switch remake. - Lots more screenshots and info on the upcoming Dragon Quest III HD-2D: Legend of the Non-binary Hero*: - Xeogred"Tomb Raider IV-V-VI Remastered announced for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC Due out on February 14, 2025."www.gematsu.com/2024/10/tomb-raider-iv-v-vi-remastered-announced-for-ps5-xbox-series-ps4-xbox-one-switch-and-pc

Legend of the Type A/B Hero indeed. Ugh it's a real headache wanting to buy this one, while it feeds the censoring plague. And yeah just posted about the TR news in the retro forum... stoked!!! It's been a long fun journey in recent years going through the classic TR's and now this happens while I'm near the end of the journey. HRG Effect!

Of the Paper Mario games, I've beaten them all up to Sticker Star. A lot of folks hated that one - the consumable attack items, the removal of many RPG elements, less interesting character designs (they're more "standard" Mario fare) - but I still had a blast with it. Not entirely sure why I haven't beaten the other two, I've got a few hours into each of them, anyway. But then again, I also haven't beaten Dragon Quest XI, haha. Time, what is it? Speaking of which, it's going to be hilarious when I beat Dragon Quest III for the umpteenth time before DQXI.

Speaking of which, it's going to be hilarious when I beat Dragon Quest III for the umpteenth time before DQXI. Man, the Special Edition 2D town in DQ11 was made for your haha... even though I've beaten them all recently, my memory isn't the best. You probably know more of the older games by heart, so those throwbacks might be cooler for you. Kind of crazy that replaying DQ3 is a bit more compelling to me than replaying some of the old FF's I've beaten a dozen times. I plan to play the Pixel Remasters next time for some of them, even though I think those versions are Novice/Easy mode. Which is fine for a replay. Someday I want to do a self imposed challenge on FF6 by limiting summons to only magic centric characters. And it might be cool to revisit FF4 PSX someday, since it was the JP original "Hard Type". That's how I first beat FF4 and what made Zeromus such an iconic final boss fight to me, it was insane. But yeah even as an old school FF fanboy, DQ3 SNES was just that freaking good to me. It's right up there with the best FF's. Hopefully the 2D-HD version doesn't streamline stuff or make it too easy, maybe there's options or modifiers like DQ11 SE had.
