I saw a video briefly on YouTube that had upcoming beat-'em-ups... and they all looked like trash to me. Maybe it will be okay, though - I thought Double Dragon Neon looked pretty bad, and enjoyed the heck out of it.

Sarge , speaking of modern beat 'em ups, if you've not played through The TakeOver yet, I think you'd like it. I beat it a while ago, I think some other HRG members have as well. It's a solid 7/10 or higher, and only $3.99 to lease (sale price) right now: store.steampowered.com/app/418620/The_TakeOver/A good Deck beat methinks.

Yeah, I can vouch for that one too. The interlude stages were pretty neat as well. It too looks kind of generic at a glance, but it was a decent playthrough.

Man I already own three copies of that. May pick up that latest remake if it's on sale eventually, but it's not going on the wishlist. Looks cool enough though.

It's a good thing it's one of the best DQ's and with the class system, has some good replay value surely. Chances are I'll still just do a traditional DQ styled party though haha...
I still need to play DQ7 3DS next, but it could be tempting to hit this one up sooner than that. I still might favor the SFC version though, that remake was sublime.

Where are you at with the series now? Pretty sure you beat 1-6 in one form or another. Did you play 8? Or you waiting to do 7 first? 8 is an exciting one. It's about as good a transition into full 3D for DQ as it could have been. Great game. 7 is still decent, just super long, and 9 is... maybe not bad, but it sure was lacking.

Looks like waiting 36 years to play DQ3 paid off.

On the other hand, hearing that music kick in stirs up all the feels for me. Man, I have waaaaaay too much nostalgia wrapped up in this game.

I love the original NES game. Something charming about JRPG battles with plain black backgrounds.
