This is the "Nexus" in Demon's Souls. A bizarre enclosed fortress hub that might perhaps be in another dimension or some space between world's. It is peaceful yet haunting and lonely recourse, even if you know it's just temporary before you venture back out into the dead world. The silence is deafening.
Then there's the remake.
I just think these new compositions completely and fundamentally change the atmosphere of the game and for the worse. While I want to agree you, as in historically vocals are terrible in video game music, these people hired professionals. It sounds better. The main issue I have with vocals, historically, is when they try to much to tell/say a story as opposed to using the voice as an instrument. That was an example of the latter.
Naturally I won't be able to tell until I play the game. And yes, it seems strange to remake a PS3 game. Although, wiki only lists this one for PS3, so maybe they want to port it and then decided to evolve the game.

I have briefly played DeS and DS1/2. I might appreciate them more now that I've run through KF4. Who knows?
I'm not surprised they decided to remake DeS, as it was before Dark Souls became as huge as it was. Hitting that well again makes a ton of sense.
Speaking of changing the feel of a game, though, I have some concern with the remaster of Shadow of the Colossus as well. I still haven't bought that yet, but it sure does seem like it's not quite the same. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course, but I think we have to accept that if they're not going the simple remaster route (something apparently people hate given what Nintendo did with the 3D All-Stars set) it will simply feel different.

Well, there you go Sarge. I'm sensitive to any little changes to Demon's Souls and maybe you feel the same about Shadow of the Colossus. That said, the remake of SotC *felt* just like the original from my faint memories of it. But I don't hold the original near and dear to my heart like it's the magnum opus of gaming, as some do. In my experience with this case, I liked the remake even more. It just felt better to play. Which kind of gets back to what I saying about PS2 era remakes being a little easier to appreciate, changes or not. I think it has a more modernized control scheme but it's still obtuse and I think the original controls were an option.
And Bluepoint didn't replace the OST for SotC, as they for some reason decided to do with Demon's Souls.
I still need to hit up Ico and The Last Guardian.

I don't know yet, honestly. I've just seen similar complaints occasionally. I'm sure I'll buy it eventually, but I will say my experience with the PS2 original was one for the ages. Sometimes changes are good, sometimes bad, and sometimes just... different.

Naturally I won't be able to tell until I play the game. If you've not played through Demon's Souls yet, let me fully endorse doing so. DeS was possibly the greatest gaming experience I've had in the past ten years. (Keep in mind I'm talking about the PS3 original.) I still need to hit up Ico and The Last Guardian. It's weird but for all the fervor and anticipation The Last Guardian had, it seems to have been forgotten about already. I never see anyone talking about it on forums. I'm very keen on playing it someday though, as I loved SotC and Ico. I also want to fully endorse Ico, I thought it was a tremendously intriguing action-adventure-puzzler. If memory serves, Sarge has also not played through Ico yet? You guys are missing out, play it! (I've got the PS3 remakes of Ico/SotC, but I've not tried them yet. I beat the original PS2 versions back in 2007.)

I've played about two hours of it. It didn't hook me like SotC did, but it is still on my list. I've definitely got it.
I do see The Last Guardian talked about occasionally over at Talking Time, so I know there are folks that like it. I fell off of it... but I fall off of a lot of games because I have too many games, so that might not be the game's fault!

Yeah, I never really heard anything "bad" around The Last Guardian, other than the big dog (?) companion AI being iffy sometimes. Which I wonder if Ico has this hiccup too? Beyond that, The Last Guardian has its fans, but it's true as this generation comes to a close that it didn't seem to leave a huge impact or anything. Anyways, I've been super tempted to replay Demon's Souls again and I'll be plenty happy with my PS3 original. I can probably beat it in 10-15 hours at this point. My next goal with it will be playing Journalist Mode, which is a Mage build. I finally did that in Dark Souls 1, which yes, magic is still brokenly overpowered (I wish I caught video footage of this, but I beat the final boss in like 2 basic magic attacks, I blinked and won). Dark Souls 2 actually has the most branches of magic and build potential, but I did a simple Faith/STR build when I played that one. Faith scales into lightning elemental damage and all, so that was cool. But then, when Dark Souls 3 dropped I finally wanted to try out a flexible hybrid built and went INT/STR... only to slowly discovered that magic got NERFED to heck by this point. You can respec your stats at least, which I finally did after awhile near the end. I don't think any patches really did much with magic either.
So tl'dr, I guess DS2 might be the nice middle ground to where magic is fun, flexible, and not completely broken. But it's overpowered in Demon's, DS1, and the drizzling craps in DS3.

These kind of remind me of the opening theme to Suspiria.

But it's overpowered in Demon's, DS1, and the drizzling craps in DS3. Using ranged offensive magic in any Souls game just sounds lame to me. These games are about melee in your face combat. Well, if you a real G anyway.
