I use to have controller layout loyalty (circle has to be confirm), but finally go over that with all the different systems. It does take me a couple of seconds to make the switch, but I've learned to stick with the defaults. Funny enough, despite growing up on the NES/SNES, the Nintendo button layout is the one I find myself forgetting nowadays. I can perfectly picture the PS/Xbox buttons and their layout, but then Nintendo's got everything everywhere else...

Funny enough, despite growing up on the NES/SNES, the Nintendo button layout is the one I find myself forgetting nowadays. It helps that Sony and Xbox have had strict controller design/button layout consistency across their console generations. Nintendo generally likes to reinvent their controller wheel with every new console. But no, I don't have any "controller loyalty". I just play whatever console has the best version of game X available to me.

I have controllers I prefer, but no particular loyalty when it comes to which system I'm going to play games on. Actually, I take that back. I have picked up stuff, when all else is equal, for the system I preferred the controller on. For the PS3/360 generation, it was the 360. Since most games didn't use the d-pad much, it was more about which analog sticks I preferred, and the 360's just felt better to me. Now the DualShock 4 improved things quite a bit, so I can deal with that.
And before anyone asks, I don't care for the d-pad on either the PS3 or 360 default pads. I use a third-party "Afterglow" 360 controller for emulation that has looser analog sticks than I prefer, but the d-pad is absolutely legit.
As for layout, I have no issues going to the Sony set because they named their buttons differently. It's the transition from Xbox to Nintendo that gets me, because of course they'd stick with the same names but flip the buttons around... It's a bit easier to deal with on Xbox, though, since their buttons are color-coded, and in-game prompts usually include that.

Cyberpunk is out and performance sounds ROUGH! But I think people forget how rough CD Project's Witcher 3 was for awhile too. They even redesigned the entire menu system after some patches I believe.
Game seems amazing though, but I may get it on PS4 for now actually.
- Still didn't finish my new PC build and the GPU market is looking pretty bad right now. I'm not paying $1000+ for older 2019 cards and the new RTX and AMD cards seem impossible to find. - Current rig has a good GTX 2060, but my ~7 year old i5 would probably be destroyed here. PC performance sounds bad in general, with some middling reviews across Steam and GOG. I'm not in the mood for this now.
Game seems better than I expected to run on a PS4 Pro at least. This purchase also grants a free PS5 upgrade. I figure I'll get Cyberpunk again on PC down the road anyways, once my monster PC is complete, for the enhanced replay.
Digital Foundry has several videos up so far for anyone curious.
I also kind of like the idea of playing stuff on the TV with a controller right now anyways, due to my job and current stress... I ordered this controller the other day, since I think I don't love the PS4 controller in the long run honestly. Hopefully this is a nice replacement for games like FPS's.

I dunno, I didn't think the performance gains over the last few years have been all that great - with a GTX 2060 and an older i5, I bet it would work okay. Then again, this may be a Crysis situation. No idea! What i5 do you have?
I'm not surprised by all the bugs, though. Development, especially on the console side, has sounded quite troubled. They're in Bethesda territory right now. It does sound like the content is strong enough for folks to be patient, though.

It's a 4-core i5-3470. I'm still on Windows 7 too with this one.
It's telling though, I played 2020's Doom Eternal this year at 60+ FPS 1080p on high settings. The 2060 probably did all that leg work, but ID have also been killing it with the optimization of the recent Doom's. It's still kind of shocking how well 2016 ran on the base PS4 even.
But Cyberpunk seems like the opposite of that. Just glancing over the Steam forum for the game gives me a headache. People with systems and parts far better than mine and they can't hit stable 60 FPS. Or people noting how the graphical settings from Low to Ultra, change nothing. The mouse and keyboard controls are apparently pretty bad too and don't allow some stuff to be rebinded. People are suggesting it's a classic case of feeling more like a console game first and the PC release being a bit of a carry over mess in its current state. I suspect marketing deals and all were probably at an end game and they couldn't delay it a 5th time or whatever. I certainly don't envy them right now, it's clear this game is "the new Crysis" (Digital Foundry) in terms of tech/detail and ambition, so I'm personally not surprised it's got a bumpy launch haha. That and yeah, they had to make this work across ~4 older consoles, get ready for new ones, and the million variations of PC's...
Even if it's a bit compromised, the PS4 version should just be okay for now.

Sounds like you're at minimum on CPU, but exceeding recommended on GPU. Hard to know how it would run without real-world data.

This purchase also grants a free PS5 upgrade. If the PS5 version can load your PS4 save, I'd just get the PS4 version for now, and migrate over later. Personally when I get this game, it'll be on PS4 Pro, via the "Ultimate GOTY" version or whatever which will include all the bug fixes and DLC already. For me that's worth waiting for. I'm kind of disappointed in the character/skeletal animations I've seen so far, ruins the immersion a bit for me. When you've got ray traced graphics pushing into the uncanny valley, that makes jerky skeletal animation all the more prominent. Also watching base gameplay, I'm not seeing any strong strides in the game design that stands out. So far this looks like your average open world GTA/AssCreed kind of thing, just with the delicious cyberpunk aesthetic. Not saying that wouldn't be fun in and of itself, but I was hoping for a stronger push on the innovation side of the equation. Then again, this game cost bucket loads of ca$h to make, so the safe gameplay makes sense on the return angle. Anyway it's still cyberpunk, and you guys know I love cyberpunk, so that's a big plus regardless.

Yeah, good point. If it gets you a free upgrade, PS4 should be fine. Just try it, then play other stuff while they patch out the issues and get the PS5 version out.

Was a fan of the 3D era of GTA until 5 and just got utterly sick of that formula (their terrible characters/writing didn't help).
I plan to go into this mostly pitting it up against the likes of the new Deus Ex games, Arkane's Prey and Dishonored games, and the Fallout's. Maybe throw Bioshock in there. All these things I love, so I'm curious to see how Cyberpunk puts its spin on it. I was hard out on Witcher 3 after 30 hours because the gameplay really bored me, so hopefully that's not the case here. First person is still a little less frequent in the open world space, so I'm not too picky about it yet. I think I'll dig it, but how much, we'll find out soon!
In a way this release kind of seems like a shadow early access premium launch, lol. But yeah, CDproject are far more giving than most devs. It felt like Witcher 3 got polish for like ~2 years after launch and then the DLC's were more like full blown classic expansion packs with 30+ hours of content each apparently, with two of them. All for free. So I'm sure the Ultimate release of Cyberpunk with all the polish and additional content will be a great deal. But this is one of those games I can't wait on!
