I mean, CDPR was in a bit of a tight spot here, to be honest. It's a game that probably shouldn't have launched yet, or launched at all on last-gen systems. Yet this would be the last holiday season they could really lean on last-gen as well, so I understand why they wanted to get it out the door. And I'm sure folks that did order this for last-gen systems would have been furious if they didn't get it at all.
I don't know if Cyberpunk's appeal is going to be the gameplay, much like it rarely is in a Bethesda game. It's more the world around the gameplay, and how interesting the quests are from a story/immersion perspective. Everything I hear about The Witcher 3 revolves around the idea that subquests go well beyond the tired "kill x monsters" or "collect x baubles".

8 years paid off in one day. Turned off the nasty film grain and motion blur which defaulted to on and performance on a Pro seems great. But I'm already remembering that these games are much easier to "navigate" (loot, explore, etc) with a mouse and keyboard, haha. Ah well. Interface wise, this probably takes the cake for being the most DENSE game I've ever seen on screen. Maybe not a good thing. There is so much information on screen to parse it's insane, absolutely have to bust my glasses out for this one. And then you dig into the menu's and it's absolutely insane. Skyrim, the Fallout's, etc, are not even in the same ballpark here, at all. This could be cumbersome and take hours to really learn how to navigate and all. But yeah already in love with the game itself so far. I picked a Corporate character and made a female, tried to make Major Kusanagi a bit. Early on with this life path you get on an automatic car ride that slowly moves through the skies of the city, with some slow burning synth music channeling Vangelis, the whole scene clearly evoking Blade Runner... a quick way to my heart.

tried to make Major Kusanagi Exactly what I would do. Definitely interested in your general take of this one as your play develops. This is one of the few modern games I've seen in years, which legitimately looked above average and interesting to me.

While I have my nitpicks with Irem's R-Type series, it warms my retro heart to see obscure legacy titles make a comeback. I recall liking the first R-Type Final too and this looks rad.

I know I haven't beaten an R-Type, probably because I'm not amazing at shmups and they're really difficult. I do have R-Type Final, though.

Pretty sure R-Type Leo has instant respawns, a rarity in that series.
Getting through R-Type 3 (SNES) WITH save-states is still probably one of the hardest games I've beaten throughout HRG's lifetime. I still dare anyone else to try it.
