Well, obviously I'm up for some more Breath of the Wild. While it isn't my ideal Zelda, it was still a fantastic time.

Looks way cooler than Persona, as always. I'll be checking out Nocturne first though and NOT that cash grab remaster with micro transactions. I was neutral on instantly knowing that MercuryStream is doing Dread. Samus Returns was pretty good but still not top tier Metroid for me. I'm not sure if this one will reach those levels either but it looks better. So them getting another shot at it might be a great more refined game, plus not having to be shackled down a bit to a remake project. One nitpick I have is that, assuming Sakimoto is still kind of calling some of the shots on the non-Prime games, a lot of the newer installments in the timeline (Fusion, Other M, now this) seem to have a lot more sci-fi interiors. I'm always up for sci-fi but I think what made the earlier Metroid's more mysterious to me is that they were a lot more organic with what often looked like decayed, old ancient alien tech that was overtaken by the planet. Wish I could get those vibes again... Multi directional aiming will be an interesting new thing. You can tell that Nintendo is finding themselves in an awkward position with this officially being "5", them quickly wanting people to catch up to previous events. It's probably not that important at all but Nintendo and other Japanese devs aren't shy at noticing how the West is more overly obsessed with timelines and continuity. Zelda and Mario have fresh entry points all the time and they want to constantly make sure they've got old and new fans jumping in. So I think it would be funny if this is another thing about Metroid, their own legacy series that has somewhat of a more fleshed out timeline over the years, that annoys some people at Nintendo. We all know Miyamoto "doesn't get it".
I don't care if they want to reboot things after this one. It's already getting silly with Prime 4, I guess still being part of the "prequel" portion before Metroid NES. Going forward they could probably just make new fresh "sagas" for Metroid if they still want to tell larger stories across a few games. But it's sci-fi, they could do time travel to wipe things clean and I won't mind, or just send Samus out into a completely new galaxy. I love the lore and stuff behind Metroid, but it's the key gameplay elements that make this series what it is and what matters most.

Fatal Frame V coming to everything basically. At first I only saw the news for the Switch version and thought that was cool. But the reason why I never bought it on the WiiU is because it was freaking $50 forever and would have taken up the entire WiiU HDD basically. So I figured, cool it'll on the Switch... but still probably with that Nintendo tax. Well now that it'll be on other platforms, it might be more affordable elsewhere.
I fell off 3 and have never been super interested in 4, but hopefully this one is good!
In other Koei Tecmo news, the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection sounds terrible on PC and I'm not hearing much talk about the collection in general. Safe to say they really botched this comeback.

Probably doesn't help that it's based on the Sigma versions. I've always heard that Black and the original NG2 on 360 were the best ways to experience them.

I played and enjoyed NG2 Sigma enough, but I'm definitely curious to see how the 360 version is in comparison and have that on my shelf to check out someday.
I beat NG1 Xbox several times through on most difficulties, did the online Master Tournament mode thing which replaced a lot of enemies with new tougher variants... I could not bring myself to finish Sigma on the PS3. It featured more loading times, screen tearing, new forced Rachel sections that were an absolute pain since she was not fun to play as at all. In fact I think it was one of those sections when I just rage quit.
I did like playing on some of those DOA babes in Sigma 2 and Razors Edge though. I think Rachel was even in Sigma 2 again, but she was just terrible in Sigma 1.

I don't actually think they're massively different, but there are enough changes that apparently make the 360 version definitive, or close enough to it. 360 is definitely bloodier - I think the PS3 did something with purple blood?

Ya, Dread looks good. I'm glad they are going back to a more 2D environment.
Also I missed the metal Slug tactics post, that one looks like it will be a lot of fun--especially the artwork. It might be time to introduce the kids to Metal Slug.

I don't actually think they're massively different, but there are enough changes that apparently make the 360 version definitive, or close enough to it. 360 is definitely bloodier - I think the PS3 did something with purple blood? I am a huge fan of Ninja Gaiden 2 on the 360, so I've done a bit of research, and Sigma changed enough to be a pretty big turn off. It is far less bloodier, mainly in that limbs aren't flying about, and the game doesn't leave the mess you make around. In the 360 game, by the time you finish clearing out a room it looks like it, the place is an absolute mess. To be fair, though, that is all cosmetic. The really big change, the one that notably effects the game, is that over half the enemies were taken out. Apparently NG2 was "too hard", so they just removed a ton of enemies from the game. If I remember correctly, there were like 1500 enemies in a run of the original game, and there are like 600-700 in Sigma, maybe less. Also worth noting, NG2's creator was no longer with the team when Sigma 2 was released, which makes these changes all the more bastardized, at least for me. Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 are the GOATs, no need for anything else (To be fair I think Sigma 1 was less tainted and is actually decent). As for new releases, I am far and away most excited for Elden Ring, as well as the leak on "Velvet Veil" from the same person that leaked Sekiro and Elden Ring, which is said to be a ps5 exclusive spiritual successor to Bloodborne. I am also looking forward to Metroid Dread and SMT5 to a slightly lesser extent, and I'll most likely play the new WarioWare cuz I love that shit. Also Mushihimesama dropped on Switch the day it was announced in the Japanese E3, and Espgaluda II and Dodonpachi Dai Fukkatsu were announced as well, which I am personally very hyped about, even if I already own them all. More CAVE! if anyone hasn't seen the Japanese trailer for SMT5, its way better than the one we got here, and makes me much more excited for the game. I think its been translated and captioned now too, well worth a look-up! Edit: Here's the Japanese SMT5 trailer with english subs, for anyone curious

Ah, I'd forgotten about the reduced enemy counts. I did know, though, that the crazy long staircase you have to fight your way up is empty in the Sigma version... assuming my memory is correct. I thought NG2 was fantastic, and I don't think it was too hard. I still think Ninja Gaiden (I actually haven't played much of Black!) is better, but NG2 was a worthy successor.
