This one looks pretty legit. 90% Bloodborne but still cool enough on its own. I'm game for South Korea getting more into single player games.
China, not so much.

I've been impressed with a variety of media output I've seen from South Korea lately. Definitely intrigued to see more games like this one and Project Eve.

Gonna listen to this but not watch, lol. I jumped around in the video. Looks like an open world Souls game, with some new things like horseback riding and the ability to summon helpers. Also crafting. These elements aren't new or unique in the greater lexicon of gaming, but FromSoftware has a way of infusing uniqueness into even the ordinary.

I saw some commentary saying the game seems really dense, though, compared to a lot of open-world games. Basically a lot like Breath of the Wild, where it seems like you can always see something intriguing to check out. Sounds pretty interesting - I might even get this game.

Bro it's about time you really sink into some Adult Zelda's with From Software... I keep thinking you should love this stuff.
Anyways yeah, I've kind of searched around and dug up some info I liked. Miyazaki apparently once did mention BoTW during development for this and some people are now speculating the game world is about half the size of Skyrim. This is great to hear because a lot of open world games have endless wasted space and losing that hand crafted vibe of the level design makes for a weak impression after the fact. From Software are masters so I bet this could be one of the best open world games ever. Miyazaki also once claimed in some article that the game is about 30 hours long, which sounds laughably wrong. But it makes me think this might be where some of the BoTW influence comes in, perhaps you can get through the main quest pretty quickly if you know exactly what to do, or maybe some of the "end game" stretch is open from the start. All the Souls games are chalk full of goodies on the side so I'm sure this'll take that to the next level.
Ex : Like Sekiro, you can also JUMP! That's a big game changer haha.
Was hearing an argument the other day about how this doesn't look as good as the Demon's Souls remake visually. But I'll chalk that up to people not valuing art direction enough. To me this game looks gorgeous and pretty unique with that cool big tree and such.
I kind of wonder if the game will have a grave dedicated to Berserk creator Kentaro Miura. I think that'd be a cool tribute, it's clear From were heavily influenced by that series. Some of the games straight up have Guts' sword in there basically.

I mean, I played through King's Field: The Ancient City.
I still think Dark Souls and its ilk are in a fundamentally different space from Zelda. Zelda concentrates more on puzzle-solving and exploration, and less on the combat. Dark Souls has its exploration, yes, but it also has a lot of precise and difficult combat compared to Zelda. I've heard that in a lot of ways, it resides closer to Metroidvanias in the way that they interlock areas than Zelda.
Speaking to game size, it's pointless to have all that area if there aren't interesting things to do or see. BotW gains a lot in how dense the environments can be. I can't say how much worse Skyrim is in that regard, but taken to its extreme, you end up with something like Daggerfall - impressive on paper but ultimately not really adding anything to the game.

I'd say that observation is correct. What I do like about Zelda's and Metroidvania's, that Souls hits for me too, is that slow round up of items and abilities along the huge adventure. It's such a simple thing for me but with Zelda's I even love just seeing your inventory menu fill in with those key items that aren't even usable. But they just feel like awesome monumental moments in the progression of the game. Souls is really similar. You get a lot of junk along the way but all your gear/items has more importance to them than you get in other games. Especially in the modern era wish so many developers obsessed with loot, crafting, and numbers games. No clue what so expect with crafting in Elden Ring, but I assume it'll be fine.
For as much as I love Zelda and BoTW, I speculate there's like a 90% chance I'm going to like Elden Ring even more. For Elden Ring I predict...
- Better lore/story. BoTW's one of the weakest in that area for a Zelda to me.
- Way more monster types. BoTW's enemy roster got repetitive.
- I love composer Yuka Kitamura who From uses a lot now and saw she's the main on this game again too. Isn't hard to beat BoTW's OST for me haha - Maybe we'll get some recycled caves/dungeons in Elden Ring, but hopefully nothing like 100+ Shines that have one single aesthetic. Man, even some color swaps would have gone a long way for me.
Can't complain about BoTW too much though and that game came at a time when I was starting to lose my patience and interest in open world games. Its incredible overworld was one of its biggest strengths. I'm hopeful they'll fix some of my nitpicks with the sequel.
I'm mainly making this comparison because it's two big Japanese open world games. I still think they do open world better than average, so the track record is promising for Elden Ring, backed by From's impeccable lineup of games since Demon's Souls to me.
