Since I don't really see anyone here playing the Nioh games anytime soon, I just want to show off this cool boss fight.
This ain't Souls.
And ... the PLAYER IS THE BOSS?

Xeogred I always tell myself that if I started playing modern games, it'd be pretty much all Nioh / Dark Souls / etc. and Yakuza.

XeogredI promise when I buy a PS4, I will buy the Nioh games. Then I will put them on a shelf and probably not play them for at least ten years. Games are like wine, you should let them reach a certain vintage before popping their cork. ;p

I have access to the first Nioh, but it's been low on my list of priorities. I will probably get my own copy of it eventually, though - it sells really cheap at times.

This SoR4 Mania Arcade solo speedrun on GDQ right now is insane.

This SoR4 Mania Arcade solo speedrun on GDQ right now is insane. The SOR4 Mania runs I briefly skimmed through were completely methodical, in that they used the same few safe methods over and over, just really precisely, and perfectly exploited the boss' patterns. I found SOR4 most fun when I was just running around with Sherry and wilding out on enemies, but that only really works up until Hard, after that you get punished if you play too freely.

With how much more technical SoR4 is compared to classic beat em' ups, I'm not surprised the skill ceiling can be really high and interesting. But yeah for casual play it kind of stops being fun after Hard. I was able to clear Very Hard, but didn't really stick with Mania for long.
The runner was using Blaze and constantly using her special attacks, which had awesome reach and grouping enemies, bouncing them off walls. It looked like all his health was constantly in the green the whole run haha. In the middle he was down to 0 lives for a second, but after the run he joked about the "level select of shame" so I guess for the GDQ event if he got a game over they would have just done that to continue. He exploited all bosses in a cheesy way, basically getting infinite loop attacks on them with her spinning special move or juggling them with the down kicks. He then showed off all the characters' crazy combos in versus, seemed like you can kill someone's entire health bar with the right setup. It was neat seeing someone break the game so much.
The lead designer was commentating along with others, though he didn't have a lot to say. There was an awkward moment when the runner said something about a glitch with the commissioner boss but the lead designer corrected him just saying "it's not a glitch", I couldn't make out what his explanation was with the accent, but that was funny.

Have you guys ever submitted a new game for HLTB? Or is that possible with normal users? I keep waiting for the Nioh 2 DLC to populate but it's been like two weeks now. I have my estimated time in a random open notepad file I want to close.

Anayo's prediction as of 27 August 2020: The new Nintendo Switch, rumored for a 2021 release, will support 4K gaming using some form of Nvidia's DLSS technology. DLSS, currently only supported by Nvidia's latest RTX cards, uses machine learning to upscale video game graphics while incurring less computational overhead in exchange for that increased detail. For example, in Death Stranding for PC, you can activate DLSS, causing the game to internally render at something like 1080p while a neural network adds detail to create the impression that the graphics are 4K. Meanwhile, the framerate is as high as it would have been at 1080p.
Nvidia owns DLSS. Nintendo is in bed with Nvidia. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch is based on the Tegra architecture. The Tegra architecture is also used in the Nvidia Shield. Moreover, the latest model of the Nvidia Shield TV already uses AI-upscaling of some sort to beautify 1080p movies to 4K. So, I predict this technology will end up in the upcoming Nintendo Switch.

Have you guys ever submitted a new game for HLTB? Yes many times. It's easy to do. Just use the " Submit" option. while a neural network adds detail to create the impression that the graphics are 4K I'm sorry man, but this sounds like sales pitch jargon to me. You can't "beautify" 1080p into legitimate 4K. The base image detail in a 1080x1920 image, is simply not equivalent to the base image detail in a 3840 x 2160 image. So if anything, this algorithm is replicating and interpolating the lower resolution subpixels in a manner that fools the human eye, into perceiving there is more detail than is actually present. This is probably done by using " downsampling", or as its technically known Ordered Grid SuperSampling AntiAliasing. A technique that's been around for at least twenty years. Using the downsampling technique, in tandem with increased anisotropic filtering, could produce an image that appears sharper than its native resolution. I'd wager these old techniques are being used, rather than some sort of spooky intelligent AI that procedurally generates magical 4K.
