Looking forward to the big write up. I'll be curious on your thoughts with the second half. Glad you gave SoTN a shot despite not liking CoTM! You're in good hands with the rest of that saga for sure.

This month has me excited to take on the rest of the Igavania games I think you'll enjoy Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow quite a bit. I'm not sure what you'll think of Order of Ecclesia though.

XeogredI even surprised myself as to how much I loved SotN. And I actually think the inverted castle is incredibly underrated. It has some of the game’s best bosses as well as some of my favorite enemies. Plus, it has its fair share of little lovingly designed little details and Easter eggs that make this game such a treat to play. ExI’m definitely excited for Aria and Dawn, since Iga felt the need to make two games centered on the same character and same core mechanics. OoE looks awesome as well. The structure has me really intrigued, since I do love Classicvania. And I’m curious to see how Iga makes one of these games difficult.

My first play was definitely a blast in the back half, just seeing how things shook up. Where most folks don't like it likely comes from repeat plays, where they're trying to move around more efficiently. There are a lot of jumps that are just out of reach to be comfortable. Glad you really enjoyed it. I was a little worried after Circle, but I figured if this one didn't click, nothing will. And you'll be happy to know pretty much the remainder of the Igavanias hew to the SotN formula. Even the comparatively-weak Harmony of Dissonance plays more smoothly than Circle. (I still have a soft spot for Circle, though, and I recommend trying some of the optional modes, which really change the way you approach the game. Shooter mode was a trip.)

Probably my case. Loved the concept the first time, but not always in replays. Still some great tracks and bosses in the back half. I also have fun going through the whole thing again with Richter! His movement abilities rule.
On a random note, I like the Belmont's more than Dracula's pretty boys. But Iga's girls rule, Shanoa is one of the coolest CV protagonists (and also now Miriam!)
It's mainly just damage distribution that makes OoE so much harder than the rest of these. Everything, especially the bosses, hits like a truck. And there's not as much overpowered equipment right away. There's still some awesome abilities you can get to cheese a lot of stuff eventually though, or I just get in a good groove with my choice of magic/weapons. Man, the dual wielding in this game is phenomenal and another feather in OoE's cap.
