The real world struggles to get even half the kind of bandwidth needed for 4K @ 60FPS with real-time interaction. Punting the lag blame off towards their third party developers is a sure fire way to sink their new ship. DUMB MOVE. Stadia's super computer matrix and server farm should be powerful enough to crunch even the shittiest Debian/Vulkan code like it's bare metal assembler.

Indeed. I can't wait to see sales numbers on these games and better yet, if Bungie will ever provide player numbers for Destiny 2 and things like that... I bet it'll be abysmal and devs aren't going to waste resources on making specialized versions for this. I've heard some people say Destiny looks like it's maxed out on "Medium" settings and some have noted other things just seem off, like lightning and whatnot. But yeah, SUPER COMPUTER FARMS! No need to build your own PC or own consoles now! ...
Just, utterly tone deaf.
Thankfully this is what most of us wanted from this. It's just amusing how this seems even worse than predicted and really exposes more to the laundry list of issues with Google.

Well, if I'm reading right, it's that the games are running at lower internal resolutions. Hard to say if that's a server oomph issue of a coding one, but there's no question that response is tone deaf. There are other issues beyond that.

Just speaking of the resolution matter... is it the streaming server auto-lowering the resolution to increase frame rate versus less than ideal bandwidth? Is the developer anticipating average crappy bandwidth, and thus making their games run at lower than 4K resolution as a safeguard? Whatever the answers, streaming high definition gaming is not ready for primetime. It won't be, until high speed internet is ubiquitous. And even just speaking of the USA, we're a ways off from that yet.
