anayo : I finally played through all of Quake and the two expansions in 2016, when Doom 4 dropped and back to back. That somehow worked out tremendously, as new Doom felt a bit more like it pulled from Quake anyways, and I had an absolute blast with Quake. I played with the Dark Places source port. Just had to make sure I had all the music files in check so they worked, that seems to be an issue with some people. I think I had to pull files off some old Quake Collection I had, so those discs came in handy. GOG has the games packaged better than Steam, though I'm betting you have some discs and old computer to play this on.

Non-cheese win for Legaia 2 is done. Lots of touch-and-go against the final boss, but I pulled it out. More thoughts later.

Ex: It really was. I think I was at around 31 hours in, so a few extended play sessions knocked it out. That's why it has bugged me all these years!

Sunk more time into the CT replay today and enjoyed it a lot. Just needed to really sit down with it again I guess. I blasted through most of the character side quests and just need to do Marle's, the rainbow stuff, and the Black Omen. Some of these side quest bosses are quite tricky, but I guess only the flame guardian for the Sun Stone gave me a game over my first attempt. Ozzie was kind of tricky though, I ended up just beating him with Frog and Magus alone. Kept reviving Magus just to get a Fire 2 in, then he'd die and I'd be sweating trying to keep Frog alive. I charmed all of them right away for the good gear though, but Ayla didn't last long. Fiona's quest is still great, along with Robo's. I guess Frog wins most people over in this game and I'm a fan of him, but I have to say I think Lucca and Robo have always been my favorites. I've been cycling through all the characters constantly though, making sure they all learn their techs. Chrono, Lucca, and Ayla were maxed out pretty quickly.

I like Frog, but I think he's less useful than most of the crew by the end. He just doesn't hit hard enough, even with the Masamune.
NG+ makes it worse, since you don't keep it on restart.

Yeah. Robo has better defense and HP, can attack just as hard, and his full party heal is a lot better than Frog's. Frog has Water but it rarely seems useful compared to the other elements.
I found myself using Ayla a lot more this time around than I normally did in the past I believe. She hits so dang hard, has very high speed, and a good crit rate. Lots of great dual techs as well.

Yep, Ayla rocks. She's a mainstay of most of my party. She also pairs well with Marle for that steal Tech. That's what I use in the Black Omen to load up on Gold Studs and Speed Tabs.

Oh snap, you can get more Gold Studs and farm Speed Tabs?
I'm not sure how I feel about Marle gameplay wise either though. I guess her full revive could come in handy and she's got excellent single target healing. Ice is solid too. But for her weaker normal attack like Lucca, I just find Lucca's Fire abilities and combo techs so much more devastating.
Magus is an interesting one too. His magic is good but he seems to lack a lot of combo techs or single target spells, which you sometimes need for gimmicky bosses. His melee isn't too great either. Kind of a jack of all trades that can probably fill out any combination of parties well though. But I've noticed nowadays in RPG's, I don't favor these type of characters much anymore and would rather have a mixed party of characters that have excellent abilities in a few specific areas, rather than being more spread out. If that makes sense. But... he's still awesome. Maybe more useful than Frog and Marle.
