It's one I'd like to try again someday. I think I got to the second disc, so not too far... but yeah. I remember liking the setting quite a bit.

Unfortunately I haven't done any video gaming at all in the past three days. Mostly due to getting sidetracked by my other big gaming hobby (analog gaming - spent last night archiving and organizing troves of pen 'n paper RPG-related PDFs). But tonight I'm jumping back into Forever Kingdom like I mean it. I do still enjoy the game! Although I find its HLTB "8h 20m" time to be suspect. Turns out there's only one completion on record providing that time, so hardly representative. GameFAQs shows 33 hours as the average completion time, but GameFAQs' times tend to be grossly exaggerated. Usually if you divide that time by three you get something closer to the truth. For example GameFAQs shows 35.5 hours for Evergrace. But that game took me 11 hours to finish.

Yeah, almost everything on GameFAQs is over estimate. Ridiculously so.

I forget GameFAQ's has estimated times. I will makes sure I continue to not remember.
I haven't played anything since beating Death Stranding and jumping back into Chrono Trigger. Kind of back in that "what do I play next?" rut, though I've been busy watching another good historical KDrama too.

Did play some more Forever Kingdom last night. I'm now at the bolded: 4.1 - Beginning 4.2 - Forsaken Village 4.3 - Chasm of Tranquility 4.4 - Cave of Testing 4.5 - Testing Grounds 4.6 - Mist Shrine 4.7 - Shrine Halls 4.8 - Shrine Courtyard 4.9 - Buried Cavern 4.10 - Canyon of Defile 4.11 - Land of the Dead 4.12 - Lake of Dreams 4.13 - Palace 4.14 - King's Throne 4.15 - Hall of Memories 4.16 - Ruins of Frost 4.17 - Ruins of Fire 4.18 - Garden of Harmony4.19 - Endless Waterfall 4.20 - Misty Cavern 4.21 - Hall of Wandering 4.22 - City of Lost Hope 4.23 - City of Hope 4.24 - Hall of Wandering 4.25 - Hall of the Banished 4.26 - Forgotten Valley 4.27 - Sanctuary 4.28 - Final Bosses
The Ruins of Frost and the Ruins of Fire were both fun dungeons. This game is VERY elemental based. If you do not have your armor setup correctly for the type of elemental damage you are up against, you will die pretty much instantly. However, if you have the right elemental equipment on, this game's a breeze. So for example, in the Ruins of Frost, I had my main character wearing ice-based armor, while using flaming hatchets and fire magic. In the Ruins of Fire, they wore fire-based armor, and used a freezing sword with ice magic. That sort of thing. Still a pleasant action-RPG thus far, although this game is very sparse on bosses. Meaning I've hardly seen any bosses at all. I'm thinking the end of the game will be a slew of bosses though, as there's plenty of plot-based antagonists I've not fought yet.

I'm scooting through Mega Man X2 right now. I've taken out all the X-Hunters and Mavericks, but missed a bunch of the upgrades, so I've been trying to clean those up. I've also been trying to stay away from guides, but I have used them to make sure I'm not on the wrong track for a few. I figured they required an upgrade I didn't have (i.e. the Arm upgrade), and I was right.
Upgrades also feel like they're a little more hidden this time around, and I assume that's because of the I.Search helmet upgrade. When you use it, spots of interest are highlighted if they're on-screen.

It gets worse in X3. There are multiple ride armors and now 8 armor parts, so there's one in every level. There's experimental parts that are different but you can only have a set of four on naturally. You have to backtrack a ton in that one for everything. I've never really liked the X-Hunters gimmick in these two as well, especially since it's timed in X2 I believe, if you fail against them enough or don't go to the stages they drop in, they'll eventually permanently disappear. Unless I'm mixing that up with X3.
EDIT: I found my thoughts on X2-X3 from last year when I played the Legacy Collection. Now I remember the double-shot with the charged up buster annoyed me in these, haha.

I nearly beat X3 back in '98, didn't finish it though. I remember you can eventually power the buster up so much that it fills the entire screen with shots when unleashed.

Somewhat yeah, ignore the "glitch" note here and you can still see the charged up shot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-mJgWLjbs4Problem with the double shot thing in X2-X3 is the initial delay to the shot launching and it messes with my timing on hitting bosses, as in even if they're blinking, knowing when a new shot will register and stuff like that. I just think the double shot gimmick slows me down and gets in the way actually. But if you don't do it when you get those arm upgrades, the first charge shot is no longer as strong as it would have been normally. It's a lose / lose situation.
All style... no substance!
I can be peculiar about the buster in these games and how it acts. It's basically why I hate MM7. The slow shot speed, only two shots per screen, and Mega Man now being tall enough to miss some stuff that he'd normally hit at his foot level... irritates me to no end. X4-X6 mess with the alignment a little too but you can duck and they're smoother to control than MM7, no real issues from me.

Okay it wasn't quite as screen filling as I recalled (give me slack, that was almost 22 years ago!), but yeah this is it:
