Haha, so isn't X2 just two full charge shots? But X3's does that lame combo shot.
Yeah I had more fun with X3 overall myself last year, over X2. Why do the Doppler stages bring it down though? I recall really liking the final stages in both X2 and X3, the difficulty really ramps up. It's lame how X2 recycles one main level though and then you got cakewalk grid Sigma.

I didn't like that mechanical snail climb, and there aren't a lot of good places to farm up your Sub-Tanks. There was something else, but my memory has already gone fuzzy on it. I didn't find the platforming all that difficult, though. I mean, I died a few times (mainly those lowering spike ceilings and the troll wall that closes in on you if you're not ready for it), but otherwise didn't really have much trouble. Interestingly, I got through this one much faster, too. Probably four hours. Either I was primed on where to look for upgrades or they're more in the open, because I definitely had three Sub-Tanks quite quickly. And that head upgrade giving you the low-down on what's left in each stage and the general location makes things even easier. I appreciated the exploration a lot more. The mechs, however, are sorely underused. If you're going to give access to something cool like that, then they need more screen time. If MMX2 was a 7.5, then this is probably an 8/10. I hesitate to push it to 8.5, but I definitely would have loved the game back in the day... if I'd ever stumbled across the cart. Which I didn't, clearly.

That cart is indeed one of my treasures.

Nice job Sarge, that one beat me down back when I was 19. The final stretch is no joke. I did play a half hour of Forever Kingdom tonight, made some progress. I hadn't played the game in about four days prior. Been busy playing solitaire chess. I'm ready to get back into the pixels more now dang it.

And the Chrono Trigger replay is finally done. Took like 3-4 months of casually playing it, phew... I can move on with my life! It was fun when I really sat down with it but overall, this was a weird experience. Must have been the retranslation as Sarge pointed out elsewhere. And an SNES game on the 3DS just seemed kind of weird to me. Clocked in 21 hours, so a bit longer than even my first recorded run I've got on HLTB. I was level 51, charmed everything at the Black Omen and was pretty OP then. Ayla with Triple Kick, Chrono and Luminaire, and Robo's Electrocute took care of the final stretch pretty easily. That final boss theme for Lavos still gets me amped though, one of the best themes ever.
On the flip side, I had a lot fun with the Ocarina of Time 3D remake and now I'm excited to hit up the Majora's Mask one someday. Think it finally got a price cut to $20 recently.

The remake of Ocarina improved my opinion of the game significantly. Majora's Mask, on the other hand, did not. I really think it comes down to the game's structure. The engine smoothness only amplifies OoT's strengths, whereas the same improvements (despite some QoL changes) don't make me like the repeated time-loop and emphasis on various random quests. It also lacks in the dungeon department, which is unfortunate; Wind Waker also has this problem.

Hmmm... I played Majora's Mask when it was new. I remember that being possibly my last Toy's R Us purchase back in 2000. I liked it but had some issues, though I bet I'd still like it more than Wind Waker. The 3DS remake was priced $40 forever though and that was way too much for me, so I'm glad it finally dropped. It'll be a curiosity replay that could sway either way for me.

I beat the N64 version of OoT, was a 7/10 for me. That was back in 2011 or something like that. Circa 2015 Prfsnl_gmr sent me a copy of the 3DS remake for helping him hack his PS2. I've not tried it yet.
I also own the 3DS remake of MM. Not played it yet. I'm either gonna love it or hate it. I don't see a 7/10 happening with such a unique take on the formula.

I think I did give it a 7/10, but that's really low for me and a Zelda game.

I hope my memories are right in that the dungeons are far tougher than the norm for the 3D Zelda's, kind of picking off where OoT's difficulty hit. And the 4th dungeon in particular still has one of the coolest gimmicks of them all.
