We haven't gotten any new Kirby racers, though.
I really dug Triple Deluxe. Absolute blast. Planet Robobot was good, too, although it wasn't as different as having a mech suit would lead you to believe. I still preferred Triple Deluxe.

For another revival, I think we need some Castlevania back. Not Bloodstained, which was excellent, but something in the "proper" series. I'd even take a wonderful classic game revival. I wonder, though, if Konami still has the wherewithal to make something like that anymore? SNK came back... maybe Konami could someday if the leadership gets shaken up or whatever had them betray videogames eventually changes. They didn't start in videogames though, unlike Capcom. So I guess I'm not ultimately surprised they ditched it and want to be idiots who just focus on gambling/pachinko.
It's sad that I bet many developers would even be willing to take sacrifices of sorts to be able to work with some of their IP's. But Konami was doing the outsourcing thing last gen as well and not for the best. MGS only stayed consistent in ways because it was still under Kojima's watch. But Silent Hill had its crappiest installments by far last gen and Downpour's "budget" was abysmal. Konami clearly didn't care. Then there's Lords of Shadows for Castlevania... just another attempt at trying to mirror God of War. Absolutely abhorred the first one, I remember beating a boss which dropped a treasure chest. I wanted to explore the boss arena for a second and jumped over a gate, which became an invisible wall immediately after. I could no longer jump back to where I just came from and get that chest. Flushed that game hard and never looked back. I saw my friends play plenty of both anyways, that ain't Castlevania. Topped off with coma inducing Patrick Stewart monologues and some of the most generic fantasy music.
I think Western or not though ANY team out there nowadays would treat their IP's with respect and do them justice. I wish Capcom could just scoop up all their stuff. It's still crazy to me as an NES kid. I always liked Capcom more growing up, but it was fun to imagine some kind of war going on between these two back in the day. You were usually getting quality when you saw those logos on a cartridge. I used to never know if I could put RE above my love for MGS, well now that RE is both quantity and quality it defeats my MGS ranking in sheer numbers and power. Ah well.
They can't even be bothered to do collections or ports. I'm pretty sure it was thanks to Sony that we got that Symphony of the Night / Rondo package on the PS4. EDIT: Also, I know you just bought Lords of Shadow, Sarge. Maybe you'll like it.

Xeogred: Actually... I quite enjoyed Lords of Shadow. I know, I know. While the first game plays like a lot of the "character action" games of the time, I do think it feels significantly different from God of War's combat. GoW is very mashy to me, but LoS forces a bit more evasion and timing on the player. Blocking a backtrack could get annoying at points, but you can eventually re-enter stages, and you'll want to, because you can jump back in and find more upgrades. So should I send you this copy? I can do that for you. As regarding Lords 2, that was a lot more uneven, but mostly from two sources: tone and stealth. The former felt like it was trying a little too hard. Yes, I know he's supposed to be Dracula, but there were aspects of the characterization that felt off. The stealth sequences (especially turning into a rat) didn't work from a tone perspective, either, but they did sometimes set up puzzles. But I just don't feel like stealth fits the character at all, unless you're doing it like the modern Batman Arkham games do, where you're actually swooping around taking out said enemies, not hiding in terror. But it's still a fun game, despite those missteps. Yes, I stick up for games people hate around here, why do you ask?

I still own my copy of Lords of Shadow, it's in my little "bad" pile. Don't worry, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is the worst of that pile by miles. Got that one for like $5 and I want those dollars back...

I just remembered that within Mario Kart 8 on Wii-U and Nintendo Switch, there's an F-Zero stage. It makes me mad because it gives a glimpse of how cool F-Zero would be on a current Nintendo system, something that will probably never come true.

I also don't think that Nintendo realizes the F-Zero series has some of the best music ever. Of course, it all sounding like a straight up cousin of Mega Man tunes might have my bias...
