Worth noting that next year is Zelda's 35th anniversary.
If they port the Twilight Princess HD version again I'll be a sucker and triple dip for that. But maybe they'll have a collection of sorts. Looking at 3D All Stars though, it'd probably be zero effort, so I'm not really sure what to expect if they were to do a Zelda collection at all. Maybe port HD WW and TP with Skyward Sword being the one that gets a few tweaks. I think the Joycons still have the motion sensor tech in them anyways? Even though a new controller scheme with the right analog stick or something would be better probably.
Basically what I'm getting at... if I can get Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and the Metroid Prime trilogy on my Switch, I'll never need my Wii U ever again. Or the Gamecube. And the Wii too probably.

That seems to be the current kerfuffle about 3D All-Stars, that it's low effort "because it's emulation". I don't buy into that argument at all. Creating viable emulators isn't the easiest thing in the world to do, as many commercial endeavors will attest to. You can say that the community has better emulation, but that's been built up by people over many years - they certainly didn't start that way!
Also, I looked around, and apparently all the pre-orders are sold out, so... blah. Stores will be getting some in, but I'm not waiting in line for that game amidst all this COVID nonsense.
I won't triple-dip on Twilight, though, at least not for Switch. I doubt there would be enough improvement to warrant another purchase - the Wii U version already does 1080p and 60 FPS. Buuuuut... if you're looking to retire your Wii U, I get it. I'm tempted to fully hack mine, myself, and make it my new emulation rig.

We've already seen Mario 64 ports. It's still 4:3 and doesn't look enhanced at all, granted I heard they sharpened out some textures. And Galaxy had this weird Chinese 2018 release: Doesn't the Switch use Nvidia/Shield tech? So... a lot of the work for this Galaxy 1 port might have already been done. This might even explain why Galaxy 2 isn't included.
I think Sunshine had pressure sensitive controls with the Cube controller, so I wonder how that'll work. Beyond that, I just hate to say I'm not that easily impressed by the offering of this collection. Again though, I say this as a sucker who wants to buy it anyways, just so I can play these on my Switch. Maybe I'll think differently if I get it and play them. I'm just burned because a Crash/Spyro level effort on 64 (bring it into the Odyssey engine?) would have been cool and then excluding Galaxy 2 is so wack, then the premium Nintendo price tag... it all stings a bit. Sure, Super Mario All Stars was cheaper and easier to make in comparison, but that was three fully remastered games with new graphics and a fourth entirely new game for the West. Nothing that special for 3D All Stars.
When Activision are killing it remake collections thesedays and fair pricing, something seems off... (Crash, Spyro, CTR, and now Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2, have all been super successful).

Xeogred : Yeah, Switch uses Nvidia/Shield tech. So you're right, the work may have already been done. I want to see a deep dive into the guts of the emulator - one detail is apparently they're using Vulkan API instead of the NVN API, which apparently has a bigger learning curve. As for the price tag... well, considering that cart-only Super Mario 64 sells for $36, Mario Sunshine disc-only is $48, and Galaxy is $12 (most recent, natch), it's not a bad deal at all. The only reason I didn't jump on it immediately is that I already own all three of those, and I do agree that the upgrades aren't significant enough to have made me purchase sight-unseen. I'd wager we're not the target audience, though. Too many of us are knee-deep in either collections and have them already, or emulation and have no issues getting them running elsewhere. To be honest, if it weren't for the "limited availability" part of the equation, I'd probably have been content to wait for it to drop to $20-30 and purchase then. Probably no chance of that now.

Nah I was okay with the touch screen stuff. I just thought the game itself was bad. It's neat that someone implemented that, though!

I'll never need my Wii U ever again. As much as Nintendo has gutted the Wii U's exclusives to feed the Switch's ravenous port devouring, one really doesn't need a Wii U at all anymore anyway. Nah I was okay with the touch screen stuff. I just thought the game itself was bad. I agree. My problems with the DS Zeldas, was not their controls or graphics. It was their lackluster and questionable game design, especially Spirit Tracks'. I say that as someone who finished both games, not as someone who just sampled them for five minutes.

Yeah, for me it was the central repeated dungeon in Phantom Hourglass that killed it after awhile. I got probably a few hours into it but didn't like anything about it really. More boat/sailing stuff was a quick turn off too haha. Though I see how some people might like these more than Wind Waker. But Phantom Hourglass kind of being a portable version of one of my least favorite Zelda's, not a good start... Sarge: Guess that's interesting listing the cart prices there. I was thinking more of how Super Mario 64 is $10 on the Wii U shop and the Galaxy's are $20 each I believe. Sunshine I guess one could argue is "new" for the collection since it hasn't been ported before I don't think. I'm keeping an eye on this thread for some developments on this... www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/372290-super-mario-3d-all-stars-physical-up-for-preorder/
