Wow, how could I forget about Tekken!?! So many great memories with those first three, especially 3.
Did you guys hear about this one recently?
Definitely one I'm thinking about picking up. And unless I miss my guess, it will probably be better than one of the games it helped inspire, Undertale. Something I failed to note about my PSX experience was that, up until that point, I was very much Team Nintendo. And, I mean, I still am, for the most part. But the fact that all the great JRPGs ended up on the PSX meant that Sony's system was going to be a must-buy for me at some point, regardless. And indeed, almost all my fond memories are tied to the myriad JRPGs I played on there. My brother and I managed to snag pretty much every major RPG for the system - there's only a few left over that I need to get for the complete set, but given the prices on Shadow Tower, it might not happen.

Did you guys hear about this one recently? I think it's cool that Moon finally got an English translation. Granted I don't want to play it on Switch, I'd rather play it on PS1 or PC... but at least it finally happened. Probably a good choice for people who like unusual JRPGs like Chulip or Contact or Opoona. I feel compelled to mention the PS1 is a treasure trove of shmups, with a considerable many being Japanese only. I once spent an entire June playing nothing but PS1 shmups. (I'm not insinuating that the Saturn doesn't have a lot either, it does!)

@opwuaioc If you have some recommendations for Saturn shooters, I'd be interested. Arcade ports are fine, but it's even better if it's an original. Are there even any Saturn exclusives that didn't also come out in the arcade? I'm not so sure there are. This is really going to depend on what you like. I'm not a big fan of danmaku or proto-danmaku games, with just a couple of exceptions, so the shooters I play have a more old school vibe to them. My favorites include Metal Black, Strikers 1945 II, Sonic Wings Special, Soukyugurentai, Layer Section, Shienryu, and Battle Garegga. I'm not a huge fan of it, but lots of Treasure fans love Radiant Silvergun. Other great recs I want to mention are Darius Gaiden, DoDonPachi, and of course the original Strikers 1945.
There are a couple I want that I don't own yet, like Sengoku Blade, Blast Wind, and Batsugun.
I'm not the biggest fan of the anime-noises, but if you like Strikers, you'll probably like Gunbird, too.

For sure, but where PS1 and Saturn overlap, I usually choose Saturn, with two exceptions: In the Hunt and Shienryu, and the latter only because of the price. Some people prefer Strikers II and DDP for PS1, but I wasn't bothered by the Saturn versions and can't tell you now why. The non-Saturn PS1 shooters I dig are Raiden Project (for Raiden II) and Gradius Gaiden. I was long ago priced out of Zanac X Zanac. (Yeah, yeah, chose Battle Garegga over ZxZ, but I made my choice and I'm sticking with it.)

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Radiant Silvergun, but I'm also not a huge shooter guy, so my tastes might be a bit off. I just liked the fact that you could continually build up your weapons and lives, eventually beating it through sheer attrition. Definitely a good thing (especially at the time) for a person not that great at shooters. Also, the fact that they give you all the tools for your weapons right off was pretty cool. You always had what you needed for a situation, you just had to figure out which one to use.
I'm less of a fan of Ikaruga, however. Despite looking and sounding fantastic, something about the black/white mechanic and the sheer spray of shots on screen make it a bit overwhelming compared to what I like. Sometimes bullet hell games are great, but combining it with that swapping mechanic was a lot for me to get used to... and I honestly never quite did. I just didn't "see the patterns", as it were.

I'm in the Ikaruga camp, but it's one I mastered just to simply finish years ago and since it's so strictly pattern based, I haven't gotten very far in random replays over the years since all the memorization has faded.
Radiant Silvergun I've tried out a dozen times and it never clicks with me, so I think I'm kind of done with it. I love that Sakimoto OST though.
