I played the X version on PS4 myself, felt pretty fine there. I thought the DC had a good d-pad at least? Unless the joystick is forced... actually that might have been the case with X too and the d-pad acted like more buttons, even though you can only map like 3-4 actions. Who knows, the fact that I didn't have to think about the controls says that it wasn't a problem, heh. I'm just not a fan of the DC controller, d-pad aside. Also, despite my love for Super Metroid, I've always been lukewarm about the Turrican series. I should like it more than I do.

The Dreamcast controller is hit and miss. The d-pad is fine, it's the analog stick that's pretty questionable. Although I've seen a lot of folks gripe about the d-pad being awful, which... I mean, I've put in ridiculous time into Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Capcom vs. SNK 2 and not really had much issue. I prefer it to a DualShock, at the very least.

The guy who made Hellslave made the engine himself. Originally he was trying to recreate Sonic Xtreme but he decided to make a Quake-inspired FPS instead. Well I wish that guy all the luck and I hope he releases the engine. From the videos that engine looks smooth and I know the Saturn has the power to put out quality.

Time to bring back this thread, haha. I thought there was one that covered new games on old systems. Looks like some interesting new games that may evolve into more from the NesDev Compo 2022. Gonna try to give them a look later. itch.io/jam/nesdev-2022/results

Why is this the first time I'm hearing about "NESdev". I want to play some of those games on my Everdrive...!

No idea, but there's been some great games that come out of them, especially when the authors follow up and expand the concept. A couple of recent favorites: morphcatgames.itch.io/spacegullsmorphcatgames.itch.io/boblEDIT: Ooh, Matt Hughson has a list of authentic NES games on itch.io. Will be very useful tracking down interesting stuff. At some point I want to try out Witch 'n' Wiz - I noticed it got an LRG release, but I missed out on that. itch.io/c/1931960/authentic-nes-games

SargeCool stuff and nice reminder this thread existed. Aside from the games you posted above, what else would you consider the must play NES/GB/GBC modern games? bonesnapdeez I'll look into that Atari game.
