Now that I've bought a PS4, it's time to start hoarding creating a carefully curated collection.
For those of you who've been playing PS4 for a while now, what games do you consider the absolute must buys?

God of War. No, seriously. I loved it. I think that's the only game that I'd put in the "must buy" category.
For stuff I liked, though, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider were both a lot of fun. I'm not sure how much you'd cotton to them, but I hear Spider-Man is great. And I enjoyed Batman: Arkham Knight (as I have all those games, even if they lost the Metroidvania structure of the first game). I also dug Control (as I have most of Remedy's output). Horizon: Zero Dawn is good if you mostly stick to the critical path. And while I know your experiences with Uncharted haven't been the best, I thought Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy were a nice bounce back from Uncharted 3. U4 does overstay its welcome a bit, but LL is just the right length.
That's about all I can think of right now. There's also the release of Dragon Quest XI S, which despite the slight graphical downgrades is probably the best way to experience it for the new content. If you had a Pro, you could also get 60 FPS out of it.
Oh, right, and Ys VIII, but you've already got that on Vita, so probably a pass there.
I also enjoyed Dragon Age: Inquisition, but once again, you'll probably want to pick and choose the worthwhile quests - shard-hunting isn't really that fun, but other side quests are worth it.
Everyone raves about The Witcher 3. I still have barely touched it. I'm sure it's good, though.

- Bloodborne - Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (good campaign)
- Control - Crash Trilogy (Remakes) - Crash 4
- Dark Souls II Scholar - Dark Souls III Gold - Death Stranding - Devil May Cry 5 - Doom - Doom Eternal - FF12 Zodiac Age - FF7 Remake
- Ghost of Tsushima - Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes + Phantom Pain - Monster Hunter World - Nier Automata
- Nioh - Nioh 2 - Ratchet & Clank (Reboot) - Sekiro - Shadow of the Colossus (Remake) - Marvel's Spider-Man - Resident Evil 2 (Remake) - Resident Evil 3 (Remake) - Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Resident Evil 7
- The Evil Within
- The Evil Within 2 - Titanfall 2 - Tomb Raider, Rise - Tomb Raider, Shadow - Yakuza Kiwami 1, 2, Yakuza 0, 3-5 Remastered, 7 / Like a Dragon... you get the point
If you missed out on some collections/remasters, there's plenty of sets on the PS4 again too. Onimusha Remastered, Mega Man collections, the Resident Evil series, etc.
On deck for me to play that I hear good things about: - God of War - Judgement - Trials of Mana (3D) - The Last Guardian - Valkyrie Chronicles (Remaster) - Spyro Reignited Trilogy - Star Wars: The Fallen Order - (I'll probably get Dragon Quest XI S for PS4 eventually)
Options from PC that crossover: - Sonic Mania
- Alien Isolation
- The Outer Worlds - Metro Exodus - Soul Calibur 6 - Tekken 7 - Dishonored series
- Prey (Arkane) - Deus Ex Mankind Divided - Code Vein?
Not sure if these are on there, but SOMA? And one of my friends says Visage is one of the best horror games he's ever played.
The only real digital exclusive I have is Gunlord X which is great for fans of such games.
There's probably more if I really comb through my PC list and PS4 trophies. This gen was better than the 360/PS3 to me. Japanese devs were back in a good groove as my biased list probably shows.

That's a really solid lineup already. I was going to hold off on FFVII Remake, but I'm definitely enjoying it enough to give it a rec.

I will update in New Finds every time I buy a new PS4 game. This will be happening for a while, it'll become annoying. Apologies in advance.

Just take your time! A lot of those games were mega popular and go on sale pretty often. Especially stuff like God of War or Uncharted, I've seen those sell for $10 new pretty often.

A lot of those games were mega popular and go on sale pretty often. Yes, at least that part has paid off via the waiting game. Sage advice, and I plan to take my time. Just buy 1-3 titles a week, slowly building up the collection. I am not exaggerating when I say that the PS4 is highly likely my last console purchase until 2030. So plenty of time to build up the library, without worry of buying for other platforms. Thought it will be a while before I play any PS4 games. It will require me to completely restructure my HDTV console gaming center, something I have to build up the gumption to do.

How are you doing PS3/360 gaming now? At least you gave me the heads up on this... "Hey guys I got Dark Souls III Gold!" ... I'll look forward to talking about it in 2030. If anyone wants me to elaborate on games I listed, I can.
I also left out Fallout 4, since I think you'd agree with me Ex that it's pretty weak compared to New Vegas and even 3. Combat wise it blows those out of the water and the engine is better, everything doesn't look like flat brown dookie... but one usually plays Fallout for a good story and world building. 4 did not provide that at all. There was one good recruitable character, that's about it.
Obsidian developed The Outer Worlds, so I hope that one is cool. I hear it's smaller scale, but that's fine. Something more in line with Mass Effect perhaps.

How are you doing PS3/360 gaming now? For PS3 I've got a Super Slim, and for 360 I've got a model E. Got 'em hooked up to an old Samsung HDTV in my dork cave. It doesn't do 4K, but I'm fine with that. Yeah, I'm aware of Fallout 4's less than great aspects, but I'm still gonna buy it. I'm an ardent fan of the franchise, so I've got to at least taste the waters there. However, I do not plan to buy Mass Effect: Andromeda, despite how much I like the original ME games.
